For which big countries would he have been great during that time? Maybe England but they are the only ones.
He wouldn’t of been great for England either. He was a much more important player at Everton than Arsenal.
Never seen many kids in Arteta shirts. The manager Arteta people like is getting re invented with the player with a lot of people now.
Many many teams. Holland :pepe1:, Germany, Italy… why not? Just was reading his wiki page to refresh my memory… he got some Sky award as the best PL midfielder of the season in 2007. I think he played left midfielder that season, although he was always a natural CM. His tactical vesatility while he had legs was pretty insane, had the ability to literally play every position in midfield at a very high level. He would definitely have made a move to a bigger team somwhere around 2008-2010 if he didn’t have those big iniuries.
On the other hand I thiought his influence and ability in his later Arsenal years was usually overrated. After his first two seasons here he basically lost the ability to sprint. The best description was when someone wrote something along the way he moved like had cement blocks on his feet in stead of football boots.
I think you’re underrating the job Arteta did for us. When he came here we were in freefall and his Xabi Alonso type of faultless distribution and ball winning transformed our season.
No way. Not for us. At least not when van Bommel got reinstated. Italy still had the Milan midfielders and De Rossi.
He would have never made a move. Alonso, Masche, Carrick, Ballack, Lampard, Fabregas. A lot of midfielders who were far better than him
I’d rate him at least on par with Carrick.
I think if Wenger and all would have done a better job during that summer in replacing Nasri and Fabregas, in stead of waiting until deadline day, we could have had a better team with more perspective than what we had in 11/12.
No fucking way. The disrespect Carrick gets in England is unbelievable to me tbh.
He was better than Carrick in almost all metrics.
And Carrick was good.
Those were all better players than him, but I’m not saying he would be the main guy there, at least he had the ability to appear quite frequently for many other big countries (didn’t use those words but let’s not get too pedantic ). You had many mediocre players getting many caps for those national teams in those years, it’s just that the amount of quality in Spain was just incredible at that time and that’s why he was never capped.
By that stage Arteta played a different role to Nasri/Farbegas. Really we should have got Cazorla and Mata aswell as Arteta that window.
That was possibly one of the most chaotic windows we’ve had and there is a lot to choose from.
Leaving all the transfers until the end of the window and losing two world class players meant that, not only did we lose 8-2 to Man U but the poor start was yet another season thrown away due to panic buying rather than planned transfers.
Arteta was a decent player but no where near the levels of such an influential player as Cesc.
His best seasons were at Everton when he was one of the best midfielders in the PL.
Well done
Arteta masterclass incoming today!
Not good enough again. Like the Liverpool game we didn’t even try to attack.
This low block and pragmatic approach isn’t always necessary. We’ve seen lesser teams come to City and Liverpool and push them.
Julian Nagelsmann.
That was just so bad. Honestly. I can’t get over how bad that was.
Emery with the good hair

Arteta masterclass incoming today!
You were right classic Arteta
Smalldicking cunt
Idiot stop overthinking games and play your best player, what a fucking moron
God his stubbornness gets steam coming from my head.
What an absolute idiot.
Can’t get the basics right even. Stuff 10 year old kids on FIFA can do.
