Super Mik Arteta

He more than matched Pep today.

Brilliant.

Shows how flexible he can be with style also, we only had about 30 % of the ball today snd to be honest city never looked like scoring.

I hope he stays for a long time.

This type of performances show me that we can go deep in the UCL

Was the exact same in the home game, but we snuck a winner in that one.

It’s a bit unreal he’s built a team which can hit teams for 5/6 goals as well as sit back and hold the defensive shape for 90 minutes as/when needed.

He’s the one.

Surely we have been the best defensive unit in Europe this season.

Quite strange to attach that to Arsenal.

That was probably one of his “wild dreams” :arteta3:

And to think, he is not done yet…not even close, we dont even have the squad he wants as yet. Imagine us 5 years from now :trossard: :arteta4:

I mentioned it after the previous league game.

The work he has done in our defensive department is nothing short of incredible.

We keep City at 0 at the Etihad. Not many teams can pull that off and we have the best defensive record in the league and probably Europe too.

You could argue that this club has never been this good defensively.

Mikel Arteta has brought the defensive stability of George Graham’s best team and the attacking prowese of Arsene Wenger’s best team to the current Arsenal side. I have no doubt that we will go onto to win major titles with Arteta over the coming years, providing the club tie him down to a new long term deal. I think he has the potential to become the clubs greatest ever manager.

I hope we give him anything he wants. He could go down as one of our greatest managers if he gets a few league titles and a CL or two

Ever since we moved to the Emirates - no doubt this is the BEST defensive side I have ever witnessed.

Neither club will be as strong next season and we will be stronger.

I think we’ll get to the final because over two legs, we’re stronger than all the clubs left in the competition.

I agree.
Arteta has the defensive organisational skills of Graham and the attacking flair of Wenger, with the winning mentality of both, which is the ideal combination.

Between now and five years he should have won one or two titles already.

I’m pretty certain that Mikel’s Arsenal will win more than 1 title in 9 years, which is Klopp’s record so far.

Arteta’s should already have 1 from last year tbh

Mikel has made me and swarms of other Gooners look foolish. His hit rate with transfers iscabove average; he’s shown in the past 2 seasons that we can match two of Europe’s elite in City and Liverpool and he can switch hhs tactics. He has us defensively solid and potent in attack.

Reasonable doubts about him in Europe, but knocking out Bayern abd getting us to a first CL Semi in over a decade erases that.

Well done Mikel. One major trophy and your legacy is secure.

I think losing 4 home games in a row was worthy of critique! As was being dumped out of Europe 3 seasons in a row in embarrassing fashion.

No question, miles ahead of everything else…

The other team that comes to mind was that 06 team that has set the record in the CL that’s still in place… 900+ mins without a goal…
We were an incredible defensive unit at the time, we never defended so well as a TEAM under Wenger.
The way our attacking midfielders worked… That team was SO ahead of it’s time. It was a bit like Klopp’s Dortmund idk.

That’a why I thought for a while now, this team has the capacity to go far in the CL. You don’t go far there withouth a solid defence and a disciplined team and we definitely do have that now.

After this game I’m even far more confident about our chances vs Bayern then before, and I was quite confident earlier too.

Atm I actually think we might have better chances to win the CL than the PL. Unfortunately we are paying the price of the weak start of the season in the PL. Especially the middle of the season and those results at the end of the year. The championship remembers the whole season, but the CL doesn’t care how good/bad you were a month ago, so it looks like the more likely chance for the trophy atm.

As things stand now it would be a disappointment to see us going out against Bayern… And we do have a lot to offer against whoever we face in the semis (City/Real).

Let’s just go for both :+1:
