Humans already have the ability to destroy everything on this planet they touch, so fucking about on other planets will come to no good.
I already think there’s there’s an alien race out there who planted the seed of humankind on Earth tens of thousands of years ago, and now they’ve got word we failed the test and are now on their way to wipe us out and press the refresh button.

haha, I know this theory is thrown around.

However, realistically, the chances of an extraterrestrial lifeform possessing intelligence, mobility, and the ability of inter-galatic travel are exceedingly slim.

Earth was an amazing coincidence of being in the right place, the right size and having an atmosphere to sustain lifeform.

I believe in Arthur C Clarke and his quadrology of the 2001 books

Also we are one planet amongst trillions of planets in the known universe, I find the theory you mentioned and a lot of scientists extremely arrogant in thinking we are alone. We are just a microdot in the whole scheme of things in time and space.

Because thinking we are the only supposed intelligence in this great big space is to me incredibly scary and lonely. Once we are gone nothing will have mattered.

For me, it is a matter of statistics

You need multiple things to be in favour of an alien lifeform to reach a stage where they can travel across galaxies.

You need

  1. a favourable environment where life forms can develop and survive. (This one itself takes out 80 per cent of all planets out there.)
  2. a favourable environment where lifeforms can populate.
  3. the said lifeform to have a decent lifespan.
  4. the said lifeform to come out of the cycle of eat, fuck, die.
  5. the said lifeform to develop intelligence
  6. the said lifeform to develop communication
  7. the said lifeform to come together to interchange ideas
  8. the said lifeform to have resources to execute on the ideas
  9. the said lifeform to be curious about space
  10. the said lifeform to figure out space travel
  11. the said lifeform to figure out how to travel outside their orbit, their solar system, and their galaxy.

and so many other steps in between…

Considering the time it takes for light to travel from one galaxy to another, you need an alien civilization to be so fucking advanced, organized & have such a long lifespan that they would be willing to undergo a journey to Earth and plant the seed.
For reference, The Milky Way is about 100,000 light-years long.

This all is so highly improbable.

You can see this on Earth itself. We have millions of living beings, and they can see what humans are doing as a reference, yet they are unwilling to do more than just survive.

As I said, you can perhaps have other intelligent lifeforms out there, but the level of advancement it would take them to come all the way to Earth is massive, so there’s a good chance your intelligent lifeform never entered the Milky Way.

I would say it is more arrogant to consider our existence something that can be easily replicated. You are taking for granted the unbelievable number of favourable factors that have allowed us to reach where we are.

Also, note that you want this alien lifeform to co-exist with human civilization in the same timeframe. Which would make the probability further low.

Ah man you take the fun and mystery out of everything

SpaceX has already cemented its status as one of the most transformative companies in the field of spacefaring the world has ever known. The technological leaps after the lagging in the 80’ and 90’ are remarkable

That’s is some fine nerding

Insane. Musk is a bellend of the highest proportions but Space X is an incredible feat of science and engineering. From seeing the very first rockets that would barely land or fall over to where they are now with this big bastard landing itself is just so monumental.

This is cool.

Much better than when someone pretends to know whats beneath the surface of mars.
