Serie A

Motta won’t see the end of the season at this rate

11 points adrift. Absolutely scrumptious

Antonio Conte is the best coach in the world. Look at that Napoli team - it’s lost the core of its Scudetto winning team and the main CB is out injured and he’s still top of the table.

I feel like Inter are creeping their way up. Obviously hoping Napoli can do it. Interested to see if they do bring someone in to replace Kvara.

Juve 13 points adrift but still in 4th lol

Inter will be there with Napoli until the end definitely. The best team in the country but Inzaghi will have to rotate between Europe and Italy so that might aid Napoli. But we’ll see.

Think Napoli will try to rely on David Neres until the end of the season if they can’t close on Garnacho. His form has been good so I guess they’ll see if they can stretch that until the end of the season and buy in the summer.

Yeah, I think the wheels have now come off for Atalanta so it’s between Inter and Napoli now.
Napoli have the benefit of focusing on Serie A, Inter don’t. Hopefully they both go till the end.

Style obviously not his forte but you can’t argue with what he gets out of teams. Results trump style at the end of the day.

Consistently gets his group of players to over perform and doesn’t need bags of money to do so. Knew as soon as Napoli took him they’d be right back in it.

His attachment to certain players is a bit OTT (mostly lukaku) but it gets results because he trusts them and knows how they work.

Spurs choose not to back him properly.

Lol

the streak is dead

Will Conte be the greatest Serie A coach ever if he wins it with Napoli?

Yeah, he would surely be up there, in contention.

Him, Lippi, Capello, Allegri. That’s it for the last 30 years or so I think.

Dunno, we’re talking some legendary names up there. But he’d be close.

And go back just a tad further to add Trapattoni there too.

I knew I forgot someone…

Yep, 7 Serie A titles speaks for itself. :trossard2:

Don’t forget Sacchi

If you’re talking about Serie A strictly Conte has a decent case but overall his lack of European success holds him back.

His achievements in that league are honestly outrageous.
He was the one that built that Juve team that dominated Serie A for many years, along the way he broke the record for most points in a Serie A season and won gone undefeated too.
He then ended Juve’s dominance himself with Inter, and now he’s about to end Inter’s recent superiority with Napoli.

Yeah, I was thinking about Serie A strictly.

I know Sacchi is a huge name overall, but not sure whether he can compete with guys who have 5-6-7 Serie A titles while he only has one to his name.

It’s good absolutely, this might be harsh I wonder if the reputation of the Serie A works against him, many legendary Italian coaches made their name when that League was considered the pinnacle of football.

Are any of those achievements better than say, Capello winning with Roma?

Good point.

I wanted to mention that point too.

Yeah, I’d say winning the Serie A during it’s peak surely holds a bit more weight than winining it during those years when Juve almost had no competition and were cruising to titles.

Although, you have to give credit to Conte and Allegri. Those Juve teams were well oiled machines and they would be getting titles even with better competition.
On the other hand maybe the reputation of the Serie A at that time is maybe unfairly taking some of the reputation off of Conte and Allegri, because they were doing a top job.

Now I’m not sure which side to chose :poldi:

For me it’s always interesting to look at what Conte and Allegri have done with that Juve team in the '10s. Conte absolutely laid the foundations and Allegri should be thankful to him for the rest of his life. But Allegri actually took that team to a whole another level I’d say, so in the end I can’t decide who has actually done a better job.
