Getting him on a free as well as Mudryk for around 60m would still be a great window and Tielemans is younger than SMS, although considerably shorter.
I’ve rarely watched SMS play so I’m unsure what his standout attributes are. What type of player is he?
Also, I’m here for some Serbian-Albanian beef. Bring him in for that reason alone

He is what Xhaka is trying to be lately.
A physically dominant all action midfielder who defends, wins the ball, has very good vision and eye for a pass, great at making late runs and a big goal threat (great finisher and with a very good strike from distance too), technically strong with very good dribbling skills (especially for a guy of his size). Strong in the air too. Not the fastest, but comfortably faster and more agile than Xhaka, better athlete overall no doubt.
You can’t be sure how he translates all of his qualities from Serie A to the PL, but seeing how much Arteta is making out of Xhaka, who is far from a model player for this kind of role… You could assume Savic would do absolutely brilliant because he IS that model player for this role (could be a bit quicker but it’s not a big issue for him) and it’s precisely the role he played for Lazio almost all the time (at least while Inzaghi was there; havent been watching a lot of them since he left).
Honestly, I don’t think there’s much in the rumours about him, be he would surely be THE perfect upgrade on Xhaka if you’re asking for one.

I’d love this signing for the Xhaka position, not for the Partey position, SMS is a far more offensive minded player.

Similar profile to Michael Ballack. Very strong, technical midfielder who can do a bit of everything, but has a penchant for getting more goals than most CMs.
He’s 28 in February so he’s the right age for a very young squad.
If we lose Lokonga and Elneny in the summer, Savic and possibly Tielemans (with Patino returning from loan) would give us a huge boost to depth / quality.
It’s clear we want to upgrade here (see the failed move for Luiz) so it’s a matter of when rather than if.

I know he has said hed prefer to stay in Europe, but if he changes his mind the price is £40m+

It’s a shame that Lazio have lost such a big player for them the season they re qualify for the CL. And €40m is hardly the type of money that’s game changing either.

Crazy given how much they wanted for him over the last few years but that seems to be the rumoured asking price for him this summer so they’ve got what they wanted. His contract situation didn’t help either.

Fucking hell, looks like it’s gonna happen. Arguably the best midfielder in Serie A the last couple of seasons is going to Saudi Arabia, just like that.
Him, Brozovic and Tonali all gone. That’s some serious midfield talent departing the league.
