We simply don’t play the kind if football we do without him. Without that we do not go on the form we’ve been on the past 18 months that is now seeing us leading the PL table.

You can’t get a better example than when he got injured at the end of last season. The difference between him in the team, and out, is there for all to see.

I didn’t say Partey has not been our best player but no way has he been a bargain.
Considering he was a non player for 1.5 seasons, I have no idea how anyone can even call him a bargain.

I think the club have certainly identified a specific age profile of player that they like but I can see they’re willing to venture away from that for the right player.
Partey is a unique midfield player and even at 28 he was worth the €45m investment because you won’t find someone who can replicate his skill set that was even remotely obtainable for us.

Different needs for different periods. We’re ahead of schedule as Arteta and Edu have said before. We’re currently leading the PL table.
Back in 2021 all our signings were 23 and under. The past summer we signed very experienced 25 year olds.
Older guys will eventually come into play. It’s inevitable.
Auba did, but he was older.
