Serge Gnabry

hopefully it’s a permanent move, he’s not going to make it here so it’s better to just get rid

Tailor made replacement for Sane.

Good move - he needs to be playing and hope he can develop. I hope we have him tied down beyond next year.

Best possible scenario for us would be to sell him to Schalke, where he signs a new contract, with a buy back clause. I’m not sure a loan does anybody much good. Schalke won’t be invested in his development and I don’t see him signing a new deal with us given his uncertain future when he can just run down his contract and go to the highest bidder/best situation.

Schalke manager Heidel was quoted: “Apart from Bayern, 17 of 18 Bundesliga clubs are trying to get him.
Hopefully he goes to a club with competent personnel (Schalke is now among those) and we can get a buyback option.

If he’s leaving on a permanent transfer a buy back clause is a must.

Imagine him leaving finally playing regularly with the injuries behind him and turning into a world beater.

Really hope we insert a buy back clause if we do sell him. Would be quite disappointed otherwise

Gnabry is someone I’ve always rated highly. If we sell him without a buy back clause that would be criminal.

But then we sold Vela with a buy back clause and we had a first option on Fabregas so the club aren’t all that stupid.

Would rather just tie him down and loan him.

He’s got the talent to be a great player and even with a buy back clause, that doesn’t necessarily mean that other clubs can’t buy him, just that they have to accept our offer at X amount.

How gutting would it be if he becomes great, we active our £20m buy back clause then someone else offers £30m and he chooses them over us?

If we’re going to gamble it’s better to gamble that he’s worth a pay rise for a few years on his contract than to gamble on losing him completely with the only gain being a little money.

the last time that Gnabry actually showed any promise was about 2013

the olympics he looked great in.

We could include a penalty clause that effectively makes it impossible to sell him elsewhere. That is what Real did with Morata.

Signing him long term and then loaning him would be ideal but I doubt he would agree to that. Why commit his future to a club that won’t commit to him, especially when he can instead run down his deal and choose his next destination?

He’d still have to agree to come back to Arsenal. If he doesn’t a buy-back clause is useless.

i wish l we operated that intelligently when it came to transfer dealings.

I get the feeling this is the year for the likes of Gnabry and Campbell. They either prove how good they are and make a place for themselves in our squad for next season or they are off at the end of the season. I think Wenger rates them both quite a bit and wants to make a final decision about them this season. They are both at an age where they are overdue their breakthrough season.

Wish Gnabry all the best.

He better hire a video guy in Portugal that sends his Youtube highlights to Wenger every weekend he plays. To improve his chances even more he does the same with the likes of Walcott and Ox trying to pass a ball.

Bayern Munich are going to sign him today, according to Sky in Germany. Permanent deal. Looks like we lost him!

Whats the fee going to be ?

And apparently they immediately want to loan him out to Bremen. If this turns out to be true, it’s just another proof of the gulf in class in the respective management positions. We loan out Wilshere and Gnabry and keep Ramsey and Ox. :joy:
