You can’t blame RVP much imo, top players want to compete for the top trophies, not fight for 4th place and act like it’s a major honour.

Weird how no Arsenal fans expressed outrage at him about those allegations in the seven years between them happening and him leaving the club, and even weirder when we have a player at the club facing the same allegation on just as little public evidence and we all dismiss it but someone will still call van Persie that.

Not sure it is solely restricted to football fans. Feels more to do with tribalism/human nature. The same thing happens with political affiliations, etc. People tend to view things more favourably when it suits them and in the same vein also more harshly when it suits them
