It says he wants 10m euro after tax which is roughly 15m pounds before tax. It seems pretty accurate to me. Top tax rate is 45% isnt it?
i’ve already explained this. If anything it would be around £12.5m or so and that is if every penny was at 50% tax.
£15.25m is €18,1658000. 55% of that is pretty much just under €10m.
being converted into pounds if you add 50% to the euros it comes up at just over £12m that is why i am saying his calculations seem off.
I don’t live in the UK but it says income over 125K is taxed at 45%.
Here’s the numbers in simple form:
£15.25m x 0.55 = £8387500
£8387500 converted to Euros is €99911990
Not my money, get on with it and make me happy.. Are we a big club? If the answer is “yes” then we’ll have to pay big club wages.
Where are you getting 50% from? Exchange rate is 1GBP to 1.19Euro.
you might be right…it just seems quite high to me on rough calculations. Not sure he is worth that anyway on top of the fee.
The wording of the tweet is absolutely terrible lol no idea why they didn’t just use net or gross for both or just use one currency for everything.
No i am saying that 10m euros is £8.5m.
So if you wanted to put 50% on that for tax purposes that is £4.25m which it would be less than that…so in total that would be £12.75m in my tiny mind that would be a rough quick calculation so i dont get where the £15m+ came from…maybe he means 15.26m EUROS not pounds (i think that is his mistake he is calculating euros on one side and mentioning pounds on the other and screwing it up).
It’s right within our wage structure if that’s truly his ask. Saka will probably be on a bit more after his extension, Havertz and Jesus on a bit less from their prior deals.
If you’re bringing this guy in to be the man on the LW, you pay him that way. I doubt the club would cheap out here and if they did it would be very shortsighted.
Mate you’re calculating tax on a €10m euro figure which is the figure he wants to be earning AFTER TAX.
So you’re doing the maths on £8.5m which is the wrong figure to be doing the maths on.
Nah, it says £15.25m before tax and €10m after tax. It’s poorly worded but the figures are pretty accurate.
I get that we need to maintain a wage structure but equally we need top tier level players now and need to accept that they will want big wages.
This is the problem when you pay average players like Havertz would class wages, genuine top quality players will want at least the same or more.
Not really. Rodrygo would want these wages regardless because he can command them due to his ability and reputation. It’s not like he’d want any less if Havertz got paid 100 grand a week less.
This is just what you have to pay players like Rodrygo who play for the biggest clubs in the world.
Yes
The main issue here is that you can’t apply the 50%/45% tax rate to the net figure, it needs to be applied to the gross. Otherwise, the calculation does not account for the tax on the difference between net and gross.
E.g. assuming an average 50% tax rate, instead of doing 8.5m and multiplying by 1.5, you need to divide it by 0.5. (17m).
Which thinking about it another way is logical, because if you were to say he is paid 12m gross (8+4), but only 4m of that is tax, he’s now not paying enough tax (4/12 = 33%).
Depending on the tax rate applied and exchange rate used, the figures are then more or less accurate.
I’ve never seen such detailed wage calculation on a player rumor thread before.
What is going on?
Thought there was an update, turns out it’s just a math class.
Fuck hmrc
