I reckon it’s too often overlooked how great he was in that 2001-02 season when he was player of the year. Beating Henry and Bergkamp to that title takes some player.

I only started watching football in 03-04 but I vivdly recall my dad saying he thought Pires was the best winger in the world during that 01-02 season.
