Reiss Nelson (24)

Exactly,
Without that goal against Bournemouth, what else has he done?

He’s no more than a fringe player for us but could start for a mid table club.
If someone offers more than 25m for him, then take it.

Think the issue is that his contract is expiring this summer. And the club trying to make him sign a contract could be due to the club thinking he’s a sellable asset and don’t want to lose him on a free. If he wasn’t becoming a free agent this summer, think the club would’ve let him go without much thought if the right offer came along.

That’s like m the third contract rejection now. Maybe he just wants to leave to get regular football.

He’s 23 guys.

Seeing it from his perspective, he’s literally wasting his time by staying here. Yes there’s the UCL, but he’ll only play in it from Game 4 to 6 if we’ve qualified by then.

If Arsenal were serious about extending him, we should’ve done it last year.

Unfortunately looks like we’re going to lose him on a free.

He’s doing nothing here really though. Your right at 23 he should be moving on but so should we.

Won us the home game against Forest too. It’s about as much as you could ask from a fringe player. I don’t think anyone needs to be hostile to him, he just wants to play regularly and get the benefit of a free transfer for a good payday. Can’t blame him and the club were certainly happy to let his deal go to the wire before this.

Not sure why he is getting abused. He’s been a very decent sub option when he was needed. I’d be happy with this

Christ he hasn’t even had a purple patch like Lingaard had on loan at West Ham.
Absolute nonsense from the club this one. 2027 ffs.

He had that one loan in Germany and a few games here this season. That’s about the sum of his senior appearances to date?

He has. It lasted for about 3 seconds v Bournemouth.

If the wages are reasonable I don’t think its a bad deal from a value perspective unless we’re doing it and thinking we don’t need to add another forward that will allow us to rotate Saka more. If he is a very cheap solution to soak up 500-1000 minutes per year mainly in domestic cups and as a break-glass-in-case-of-emergency player in other competitions, no problem. But if we’re thinking this is the guy who is going to allow us to rest/rotate Saka more, its an issue. He has never looked very comfortable on the RW. I don’t think he is good enough on his left foot to do the Saka thing where he plays really wide and then crashes inwards.

That’s a contract that doesn’t suggest he’s being sold anytime soon. Seems like starting games doesn’t seem to be a priority either.

Unless Arteta has plans to Space Jam the fuck out of him, this don’t make sense.

Sad state of affairs how scoring 2 important goals all season nets you a 4-5 year contract.

Genuinely speaking, how much better do we feel Nelson can get at Arsenal?

Could get get a carabao cup campaign.

Nelson on about 35k/week apparently. Surely we can let him go and find a youngster who’ll be happy with similar wages and has better future potential than him?

How much would he cost though?

We need someone with the quality to provide cover and options in the Champions League and to fight for the title

Why would he want to stay? He’d get five league starts at best.

Fuck him off. We’ve got Trossard, Jesus and ESR as secondary options out wide.

He stays!

Thoughts?

  • Good decision
  • Should have let him go (for free)

Hopefully fighting on a few fronts next season, we need squad depth and numbers, not having to go out find then throw money and a fringe squad player is good.
