Raphinha

Only players we had behind Lacazette’s fat ass were defenders and the keeper

Can Raphinha play on the left wing though?

Yes. I wouldn’t say that’s his best position but he can certainly play there to shake things up at times.
I think he’s done that for Leeds at times too.

Edit: There was a video doing the rounds where he you can see him in action from the left.

why so antiterrorism? play him as LWB, get whoever is better between Martinelli and ESR next to him.

we have shit options at left back, we need better output from the left side etc. It’s a perfect match.

The point I was trying to make when I said that in an ideal world we play Saka at RWB is not because he is a great defender and shit attacker, he’s the best attacker we had last season… it’s because that’s how you get even more out of your attack, basically play two attackers on each side just that one of them has the pipes to run back and defend a bit if they have even an ounce of defending ability in them. Then you’re supposed to have an even better attacker in front (which we don’t have in Saka’s case and why it was a hypothetical).

We want the Ronaldo on LW then the Marcelo at WB next to him basically, this is good 2022 full loco football, be more terrorist, be the terrorist you want to see in the football world! we’d score a thousand goals if we had Saka and Raphina as wing backs and two even better attackers in front of them. Defence? no need when we score 6 a game!

-6.64 xA (4th)

I take it that the author of the tweet went with this stat over afA (actual fucking Assists) because Raphinha is lower than 4th for that metric lol

I agree.
He was playing for a very poor Leeds team, who’s main striker was out for most of the season, but Raphina was still one of the most effective attacking players in the PL.
I wanted Maddison last season but Raphina has proved he’s at a similar level.

Our attack was so blunt and disfunctional last season. The addition of Raphinha and Jesus transforms it. So many different types of threat.

Raphinha is a genuine match winner.

This needs to be done so I can officially become an artetasexual

All the praise will be to Edu, not lego hair. Arteta’ pull brought us Ceballos and Mari. Edu’ Brazilian connections will get us a happier Gabriel and Martinelli, Jesus, Marquinos and Raphinha…

I’d it were up to Pep’s cone boy, we’d be bringing in Morata, Traore and some Spanish midget with a good first touch as cb cover.

a front 3 of Saka Raphinha and Jesus will run any defense absolutely ragged. People will not want to admit it but they will absolutely dread the thought of that attack.

Feel like that’s overselling the front three a bit but the energy and mobility in that trio is super exciting especially when the likes of Odegaard, Vieira and Partey are so proficient at feeding passes into these spaces. Really hope we can pull this off.

Saka got the blessing from Tite too.
That makes him half Brazilian in my books.

Fast skinny legs and Technical thick legs on either flanks, with Jesus the saviour through the middle. Premier League domination here we come!
