I actually don’t know why the ref stops play when all the pushing and shoving is going on pre corner.
Let the ball come in and give a free out or a pen every time. The game would change in a flash if there was a concerted effort at doing that across a couple of PL weekends.
Feels like they’re trying to fix the mess created by players trying to get the most out of the rule book, because they are all trying to win, which is fully understandable.
I want yellows back as an actual warning. As in you went a bit too hard on that tackle there, or you took too long with the throw-in or whatever.
Every single thing that is a foul but can’t happen by mistake, like grabbing a shirt, should just be a straight red, so that after a grace period where they probably happen on habit we get more fun football I think.
Idno. I just feel like trying to dribble past 2 players in the box is a bad decision. Because we want it to be, rules-wise. and here we are.
Teams in the PL have smartened up and are no longer falling for stuff we used to do back in 22/23 with inverted fullbacks and false 9s, which was heavily inspired by the City and Liverpool teams that dominated in previous years. Pep in his own presser admitted that you have to adapt.
At the end of the day Arteta’s job is to win football matches.
As much as people are crying about it, had we gone against the grain and sacrifice some results over taking a more traditional approach, the same people would be calling for Arteta’s head for not adapting.
PL and wider football can adjust the rules if they want to but Arsenal have no duty to avoid exploiting what is legally allowed to maximise their chances of winning.
When they adjust the rules I’m sure Arteta and our staff will adjust accordingly like they’ve done every season, and the rest of the football herd can follow our new blueprint, like they follow the current one.
