One of my favourite players ever, and so likeable.

Loved that he stayed at Roma his whole career, could have won everything and more if he wanted to but loved his club more.

Love Cholo but he’s way overpaid.

Most people seem to disagree with them.

Proper weirdo behaviour from the biggest club in Portugal and the club with the most socios in world football.

I asked AI and was surprised to see Benfica comfortably have the most titles. I always thought it was Porto as they are the most successful this century

Fun fact there’s never been a Portuguese league champion outside the cities of Lisbon and Porto.

Not a patch on this lad.

(Mert’s gangly legs always get me when I see this picture)

Spent a good minute laughing watching Brendan here. So bizarre looking I thought it was AI.

This fucking sent me:

Is this not AI? It looks very suss

Well, sounds like we’re not alone.

Genuinely something very off about the video. Maybe it’s Brendan’s porcelain veneers. My guy couldn’t stop smiling. I’d be smiling like that too if I was on that sweet Saudi contract.

The latest Stick to Football episode with Roberto Martinez is really good.
There was a hilarious moment when Neville likened Neto to Hazard and Martinez immediately said no.

Edit: Here’s the clip.

Think Neville compared Neto with Hazard previously as well. I just don’t see it.

Thoughts?

Perhaps a touch dramatic, but the core point is right imo. The current meta is dull and football is less fun/exciting than it used to be.

Suspect the pendulum will swing back in 5 years or so and managers will move away from this very rigid way of setting their teams up.

I do understand his point of view. I think the criticism of Arsenal in general is excessive and the way we play is a byproduct of the way teams line up against us these days in the PL.

But fucking hell it is so fucking boring to watch. This obsession with micromanaging everything each player does in the pitch now and the repetitiveness of what we see just makes for really boring viewing.

I feel like we’re seeing a generation of football players come through that have had their personality coached out of them and they fall into the system play. The game has a dearth of decisive players who can make the difference through individual brilliance at the moment and that’s why teams are asking for £70-100m for average attackers who do the basics well

Go back a few years on here and Stroller was calling this out as inevitable.

I even see it at League of Ireland level. The teams at the top with the resources play boring football.

Why have thoughts over a fake quote?
That account is genuinely the worst, on the verge of blocking them because it’s not the first time they’ve messed up.

He is right but the rules are designed to not reward technical football much, so start there. Like why are you allowed to grab someone’s shirt. At all. Why are you allowed to wrap your arms around an opponent trying to move past you. Why are you allowed to shove someone right when they take their shot.

If you weren’t allowed to do all that dumb shit we wouldn’t have to watch for an hour for each goal, and ten minute passages of just passing shite around in a ring in midfield in order to create an opportunity.

Instead joga bonita players, the great Ronaldinho entertainers would rule the sport and score many more goals.
