Ten Hag sacked
So that’s three former Man United managers who have lost their jobs in the last week
Moyes last man standing now and doing a better job than any of the rest of them anyway.
Last night, I was going to post that Leverkusen went from 3-1 to 3-3 against ten men the other day but refrained because it wasn’t exactly the tactic rather a complete brainfart from the keeper that the opponent got into the game.
Sacked after 2 games incharge?
Has to be a record for the fastest sacking among the top leagues.
Gotta be glad he only spat and didn’t bite. Looks like he’s becoming more civilized ![]()
Damn, that 2018–2019 Ajax side is looking pretty fraudulent these days.
GK – André Onana ![]()
What is there to say? He’s been awful. A total fall-off.
RB – Noussair Mazraoui ![]()
Did okay at Bayern, but I expected a much bigger career from him back then. @SRCJJ
CB – Matthijs de Ligt ![]()
Very underwhelming career so far. Failed to establish himself at both Juve and Bayern. Now finally starting to look okay in a relegation-fighting United team.
CB – Daley Blind ![]()
One of the experienced heads in that team. Gets a pass from me. Moved to Girona and actually did really well there.
LB – Nicolás Tagliafico ![]()
Hugely promising at the time. Thought he’d become a top-tier Premier League left-back, given his aggression and energy. Ended up at lowly Lyon and just faded.
CM – Lasse Schöne ![]()
Another experienced figure in the side. Gets a pass.
CM – Frenkie de Jong ![]()
Top-tier talent back then, and now a reliable presence at Barcelona. Still feel like he should be doing more, especially offensively—but I’m giving him a pass.
CAM – Donny van de Beek ![]()
Damn, this guy flopped HARD. United paid close to £40m for him. Injuries didn’t help, but he was poor even before that and only declined further afterward.
RW – Hakim Ziyech ![]()
Another massive flop. Ended up at Chelsea after being linked with half the Premier League—including us. Did absolutely nothing there. Then off to Turkey and disappeared.
LW – David Neres ![]()
Moved to Portugal and did okay-ish, but I had way higher hopes for him.
ST – Dušan Tadić ![]()
Another one of the experienced leaders. Went to Turkey and did alright. Gets a pass.
Manager – Erik ten Hag ![]()
Very poor at United, despite some trophies. Never really got them playing. Now putting on a masterclass in failure at Leverkusen. Will he return to Ajax next? I hope not.
So yeah…
That 18–19 side looked so promising. But it’s safe to say the majority of them never lived up to their potential.
Mazraoui is probably one of the better defenders at United and over at Redcafe they only seem to love him when he plays. He’s been linked with Juventus I hope it happens he’s a traditional right back and should be used as such. He’ll never be a RWB that Amorim wants it’s just not his game.
But he’s also been unfortunate with injuries in his career too. Think that’s held him back
What I also take from this is choosing the right club is important. Van de beek and Ziyech just went to the wrong clubs.
Onana… we all must of just missed something at the time.
Onana got to the Champions League final with Inter. Huge fall off since then
Who is the biggest fraud…Donny Van de Beek?
IIRC he did okay-ish at Inter right? @SRCJJ
Yep, I think so.
I remember Rio being delighted with the signing:
“He brings goals, he brings assists, he runs into the box, [he has] a good work ethic and an unbelievable brain. [As an] Ajax guy, he knows how to play good football.
“Edwin van der Sar, my old mate – did you see it, by the way, on social media? He put crying faces when I said van de Beek on his way into Man United – he wasn’t happy.
“He knows what he’s letting go, he knows his quality, he knows his class.”
Didn’t age well lol
Feel like a lot of things Rio says don’t.
Mazraoui rating is a bit harsh, especially if de jong gets the tick.
Onana must’ve still had some leftover drugs in his system at inter.
Think ten hag himself has a shout for biggest flop, was so highly rated and produced utter shit at United before being sacked 2 games in at Leverkusen. Those tin pot flukes don’t mask anything.
Seems like a good solid keeper

. That title really needs to come trough, Mikel.
Damn, strange stuff from Kaveh
That’s a ridiculous take. I actually think he was the most overrated player in that Ajax generation. A very limited player who only worked on a high level in a very specific role, as a forward positioned 8 who presses, gets into positions etc, but doesn’t offer much on the ball, in creation/build up. That’s him at his very best, let alone off form.
Difficult not to agree. I’ve wondered where and how this will end. As leagues/clubs around Europe lose their financial clout as the UK, US and the Arab States dominate world football. Our own economy is built on sand, so I’m convinced we’re heading for a financial collapse in the UK game too.
