I do wonder how great Del Piero would have been without the injury.

This is what I’ve been saying about Maradona vs Messi too Baggio and Maradona played with knee injuries, a couple of jabs of cortisone and away you go, wouldn’t be allowed now.
It’s a different game players like this never got the protection from the refs.
