Just because you earn good money, doesn’t mean your employer gets to shit on you.
I think it’s pretty clear he’s complaining about being treated a certain way. I’m sure he’s aware the other things are part of the job as he’s been doing that job for a decade.
It seems fair enough for anyone in any job to believe they were giving it their everything and then they move on because they don’t like how they’re treated.
Obviously. But he’s the one who brought up missing birthdays as part of the reason.
We also don’t have any clear idea of exactly what City did to him outside of maybe less involvement in the team over the last period of his career there.
I personally think its out of touch to suggest that missing a kids birthday is such a huge sacrifice for a person earning generational wealth levels of money.
Lol you went to a soulless entity with no fans when you could have been a hero in Liverpool’s revival.
Get what you deserve.
Can see why maybe he wanted to swerve Arteta now
That generational wealth may not mean as much if your kids hate you for being absent at milestones in their lives.
It did feel like he was not as appreciated as other players despite being as good as them
That’s what I was thinking as well.
Having said that, isn’t Tuchel like that too?
I guess Arteta is the demon that he knows.
Better to cry in a ferrari tho. Point is that everyone makes sacrifices, and hardly any get compensated the way he does for it.
If it’s such a big deal, he could always go and do a real job and have his evenings and weekends free, nobody is really stopping him from retiring.
What’s an example of this?
Some people are really family orientated, and occasions like children’s birthdays are super important to them.
And I can certainly imagine a scenario where he’s had to break a promise to his children because the club has reneged on some assurances it had given him.
It’s the life you choose, you already know the pitfalls when you enter this profession. It’s the same for all sportspeople, musicians, actors etc. These are professions which you have to completely dedicate yourself too to be the best, it’s not exactly family friendly.
The guy just needs to learn to make it up to his kids and they’re gonna have to understand.
I think it’s worth taking into account his background here. His dad was murdered when he was a kid. Emotionally and personally being there for his kid’s birthday might be a big deal for him.
It’s sad to see a man being shitted on for wanting to be a good dad. Particularly coming from his background where dads for the most part are absent. No amount of money can make up for the love of your child. I’m guessing the people who saying don’t have kids of they own
So are there no normal people slaving away at 9 to 5s for low wages that are family-oriented? It’s just poor old gajillionaire football superstar Raheem who has to deal with this.
It’s not like he’s away for weeks or months on end either, his family probably lived in Manchester where he trains and plays at least 25 games a season.
I have friends and family that spend months away at a time to make ends meet doing dangerous physical labour jobs and this dude at the longest might go a week or two without seeing his family in person.
My point isnt that he cant consider family important, its that footballers like him don’t realise how privileged they are and those priviileges come with some downsides.
As I said, he can retire any time he likes.
Not that I don’t agree with the general consensus of an individual prioritising his family.
But a footballer’s job is well scheduled & lasts for few hours a day.
If someone really cares about spending time with their kids on a given day, they can make it work.
Raheem perhaps just used it as an example but it is really not that big of a deal.
As much as I like Sterling and as much as he might have had some inconveniences, he doesn’t have to play professional football and he could do a normal job.
There’s nothing worse than unbelievably rich celebrities moaning about how tough they have it.
Just keep your mouth shut and don’t whinge on social media when there are millions of people in the country who can’t even afford to buy their kid’s a present let alone have a birthday party.
Mate you sound like you just hate rich people at this point. Sterling has dedicated his life to his job being well disciplined and working hard. It’s not his fault he gets payed what he does he could of easily ended up playing Sunday league while working a part time at McDonald’s.
But that isn’t what is being said, is it? If the quote was “I want to be a good dad” do you think the response would be like this?
It’s about the lack of perspective relative to real life for most people.
Its ridiculous to think anyone is criticizing him for wanting to be a good father.
Real life? What is he playing the role of sterling for a movie? That is real life he wants to be a good dad you are shitting on him talking the money he earns as that does anything emotionally in his circumstance knowing what he went through
Yet again, you’re just making inaccurate inferences.
If he has worked so hard at football specifically, then technically his salary is his own fault isn’t it lol
