Raheem Sterling

How can a player owe their club millions? :henry:

Oh I see, it’s not money he owes Chelsea but outstanding payments owed by the club.

It can still be remedied if both parties are happy to walk away. Sterling gets a new club and can play football again, Chelsea can save money by letting him go for free.

But sterling wouldn’t care about Chelsea saving money. Them foregoing a transfer fee doesn’t help him.

If anything he’d rather they got 20m to pay him off.

there is NO WAY anyone with 1% of a brain would leave that sorta money on the table and just walk away. Chelsea made bad choices and they have to deal with it. This is the 1st of many…see all of these 7 year contracts for mid talent on high wages :henry2: you just know what is gonna happen.

I just don’t get why we can’t say him on a loan with half the wages covered?

Chelsea are trying to get us to buy him.

That’s a weird dynamic.

Depends on the situation, the individual’s priorities and the legal advice Sterling is getting doesn’t it?

Scenario 1. He’ walks away and Chelsea nullify his contract.

Scenario 2. He slowly fades into obscurity in the reserves or at home while he and his employee go through a lengthy and costly court battle and leave the final outcome to a judge. Meanwhile he’s losing match practice and fitness that means he won’t get anything like the contract Arsenal could have on the table and ends up playing for a bottom of the league club or just retiring.

A clever person looks at the bigger picture. That’s why lawyers exist.

This was never on. But it did give the media outlets plenty of engagement today.

Don’t see why it would come to this. He isn’t gonna stop showing for training and they aren’t gonna not pay him.

Sadly, this seems to be the case.

Elanga linked with Newcastle. Empty the clip on Gordon?

I give up. We are signing nobody.

I’ll put a little spin on it with this poll.

Chelsea offers us Sterling for free, but Sterling wants the same wages (3 year contract)

Could you have a slightly more satisfying meltdown about it? People being frustrated on deadline day is one of my favourite things about being a football fan.

Nor could they stop paying him while under contract unless Sterling has breached the terms of his contract. But they may not want him training with the first or second teams if there’s a bitter court dispute going on.

Sterling would certainly be advised by his lawyers not to go AWOL or do anything that would hand the advantage to Chelsea in a court case.

I think Scenario 2 is less likely than the two parties reaching an agreement. Judges don’t look too kindly on having their time wasted on easily resolved or vetaxious disputes.

LOL this poll is one-sided, you can always count on OA for honesty.

Chelsea pay 50% of his wages and you may have yourself a deal.

I haven’t seen a poll that one sided since we asked if people supported @The_Invincibles and his plan to imprison people for not giving a fuck about voting.

Sky keep saying Sterling could still be on. Is it just a matter of getting Nelson and Nketiah out the door first?

It’s a matter of Sky trying to keep people tuned in until 11 :grinning:
