He also chose Lenglet so doesn’t get a pass on that either. Said it was a shit signing and didn’t understand how they went from Bremer rumours to Lenglet on loan.
Brings on Sarr with 15 minutes left who gives away a penalty and misses a fairly easy chance at the death. Très Spursy.
His stans would probably argue he wanted Bremer and was forced into picking a second choice so he’s still blameless and it’s actually all Levy’s fault.
Well he actually wanted Bastoni if you must know
The links with Bremer were all a smokescreen?
It doesn’t really matter because in the end he’ll blame the club for not signing the guy he wanted.
Probably wanted Bremer after Bastoni and ended up with Lenglet.
Sort of like wanting Martinelli after chasing Saka and then ending up with Hazard (special analogy just for you).
Well if that’s the case a coach as good and defensively sound as Conte should still be able to make chicken salad out of chicken shit.
Seeing him fail like this makes me feel very vindicated in my assessment of him.
Conte is proving himself to be a fraud now. Some dogshit results leading to an implosion. He looks washed.
Your assessment of him isn’t vindicated by any stretch of the imagination. Him failing at Spurs is not indicative of his quality as a coach. His CV speaks for itself.
World class coach but not everyone is meant to succeed everywhere unfortunately.
Lmao ok bro. Pundits were slobbering all over the guy when he came to Spurs, he was touted as the single by some as to why Spurs would finish above us.
Instead he’s managed to navigate their squad into a bunch of bad contracts, play a style that’s at odd with the strengths of their best players and complain basically from Day 0 that he didn’t want to be there.
While not everyone is guaranteed success everywhere his failure at Spurs absolutely confirms what I believed about him, that he can’t win without overspending and that he can’t develop a team.
You’re always gonna defend him. I understand that but to just say “Oh well not everyone is able to win everywhere” absolves him of responsibility.
Would be a good start for them tbh. He sucks and is why there will always be a ceiling on Spurs and thank god for that.
When has he overspent to win?
We’ve already argued about this. He was able to spend at Chelsea, he was able to spend at Inter (which is one of the reasons he got pissy when they couldn’t spend). I’d even argue he was able to leverage some of the financial advantages that came with Juventus opening their stadium in 2011 which coincided with him taking the job. Inter were in a down cycle, Milan were entering a down cycle, Napoli weren’t anywhere close to being what they are now, so it was who? Roma? Please. And overspending is relative. He obviously didn’t have Juve paying 2023 fees for players in 2011. And I’ve even said that the first scudetto team was really impressive considering some of the scrubs he had, especially up front. And there’s nothing wrong with being a manager who has to spend a lot. Pep is a manager like that. Mourinho is too. But it means you’re just a different type of manager. He can’t develop a team. Spurs have signed a few young guys to try to bring their age profile down and Conte doesn’t wanna know. He won’t play them. Everyone knew his deal was to come in, sign a bunch of guys in their prime, hopefully win and then fuck off before the contracts start to bite.
It doesn’t change the fact he’s a good coach but we’ve even see Arteta cobble together a coherent low block during Project Restart with some awful defenders. If Conte is as good as you think he is, he should be able to at least get them playing solid again at the back.
OA should be absolutely vindicated about Richarlison btw, a lot of us didn’t see it with him.
Same with Bissouma (Except BigWeng I think? lol). What can I say, we know our stuff here. Take notes twitter.
Two evenly matched teams in Chelsea and Everton. Very low technical level on show.
He had a net spend of £18m in his first season at Chelsea.
And his biggest signing in season one at Juventus was about £12m lol

But it means you’re just a different type of manager. He can’t develop a team.
Nobody can develop a team unless they spend hundreds of millions
Klopp
Pep
Arteta
3 top coaches in the PL right now and the first one needed loads of money and a few years of scraping by to get competitive. The second needed world record sums on defenders and has spent close to a billion. The third needed 2.5 seasons, an entire new squad and more money than any arsenal manager in history has spent in the space of time he has spent that money.
It’s twitter nerd nonsense to act like top coaches needed to develop teams on shoestring budgets. No they don’t.

If Conte is as good as you think he is, he should be able to at least get them playing solid again at the back.
To be fair, with a defence of Forster, Dier, Romero, Lenglet and Davies, any manager would struggle and apart from Kane and possibly Son, their squad is just above mid table level.
So if they do get a CL place, a lot of it will be down to Conte rather than the quality of the players.

It’s twitter nerd nonsense to act like top coaches needed to develop teams on shoestring budgets.
I’m not saying he has to go manager in MLS with all the wacky roster rules to be considered a success. But everyone knew what he was about when Spurs brought him in and of course Spurs won the transfer market this summer.
And 12m at Juventus back in 2011 is far far different than 12m today. That’s why I said overspending is relative. It matters what market you’re in and when you’re spending.
You just can’t bring yourself to assign any blame to him. He’s a good coach but he’s as much to blame for how poorly things turned out at Spurs as anyone.
@InvincibleDB10 There were plenty of people picking them to finish above us this year. Their business looks bad now but they got plenty of good press for it during the summer mostly because of Conte.

And 12m at Juventus back in 2011 is far far different than 12m today
2011 we spent about 12m on Podolski.
No way we can call this “overspent”.
