Exceptional player. Felt he looked good at Chelsea in his old age too.

That generation of German and Dutch players that ended up in Italy..

Brehme, Sammer, Matthaus and Guillit, Rijkaard and van Basten.

Chelsea were at their most inoffensive when Gullit and Zola were lining up for them.

Beautiful goal, beautiful kit

I have never been able to understand how he connected with the ball to make it fly that way. Everytime it looks like it should hit the defender or fly wide.

The state of this pitch.

I can’t figure out where it is. I think the kit is 97-98 Inter and it appears to be a UEFA Cup match.

Inter v Spartak in the 97-98 UEFA cup campaign.

Absolute fucking beast that season I don’t think we’ve seen a higher quality campaign from a number 9

Always cracks me up how deep that Argie backline appeared to be sat. Gave Owen acres of space to run into.

Keegan arguing against that being a red!

Wow @Pires

What a team. True golden era for football in the region. As much as people will point to Croatia final run in 2018, I don’t think they have ever had a more talented than the former Yugoslavia would have produced in the 90s had it not split.

Ridiculous talent.

Stojkovic was only 22 in 1987

Yep. That’s a very famous generation of 87 that won the U20 WC, still often gets mentioned in these areas.

Of course, you can’t compare Croatia alone against all the talent that all the Yugoslavia had back in the days. It was quite a football force in the past.

Croatia alone had more talented players actually before, let alone combined with the Serbian players, some players from Bosnia, Macedonia etc.

That’s some generation there… and you know who do they say was the most talented one? He didn’t have a huge career, did play for Barca and Real, won the CL with Crvena Zvezda around 92, but should have achieved more…
Robert Prosinecki. I think he got the award for the best player in that tournament. Even next to a guy like Savicevic who had a ridiculous impact in that 90s Milan team, or Boban who also left a good impact there.

This video says it all I think, no translation needed.

Crouch said in his book (they played together for a while, I think in the Championship) he was one of the most talented player he ever played with but smoked when he was in the shower lol.
