I presume you were disgusted with the state of the modern forward market and needed to wash it away with some 90’s brilliance?
Maybe partially, but just wanted to enjoy some ridiculous finishing skills. You can’t see that anymore.
Strikers today can’t even do stuff like this in training.
Season before this at Barcelona this man registered 47 goals and 13 assists in 49 games. 60 goal contributions in 47 games at the age of 20… there has never been a phenomenon like him.
This guy was the epitome of soccer, R.I.P. The way he kicked it so hard when he was near the goal, incredible.
Chuck a plain, sponsorless kit on this guy and it’s officially heaven on earth.
He was very good at his job.
That’s a top quality vid btw
Probably the best prime R9 vid I’ve seen so far. Actually maybe the best football clip I’ve seen on YT in a long time. Focuses on the players qualities and really does a good job in showing them, rather then hiding them with over the top editing skillzzz
They don’t have the same pedigree because they didn’t play long enough together for that, but even if we’re just talking United I’m taking Rooney/Tevez over them any day of the week.
Rooney Tevez?
That was hardly even a partnership. They played a weird, fluid formation at the time, where Rooney and Tevez were dropping deep, covering the wings, with CR7 shifting into attack…
It was a deadly attack, but it was more a front 3. Highlighting Tevez and Rooney is impossible withouth including Ronaldo.
And I’m MASSIVE Tevez fan btw.
You never got to see too much of Tevez, purely attacking wise, at United. He was brilliant, but was doing so much defensive work. There were only like a handful of games where he really got the chance to shine going forward.
It gets overlooked though how brilliant he was for City. Was carrying them in those first 2 seasons, their best player head and shoulders.
Still if I had to pick I would pick them over Yorke and Cole, even if it’s an on paper discussion. Both of these guys are absolute world class and even without Ronaldo they would have done great things together. Would you consider Yorke and Cole world class?
I don’t know about individually, but I’d say they absolutely proved themselves to be a world class partnership at the time.
Those two with Ole and that cunt Sheringham was an insane set of strikers for the 4-4-2 era
Yep, as a partnership surely world class.
Also individually, at their peaks they were at least borderline world class, getting the numbers as any top striker, plus the allround play. All at the highest level.
Surely the most overlooked part of that United generation nowadays.
