Trying to find the word for it, it’s the last romantic decade? Football really started changing 2010+. Ronaldinho types being phased out of the game. Beginnings of boring Pep football. Serie A falling off, Bundesliga becoming a 1 team league. Hideous amount of money in the game.
Real Madrid/Barcelona dominance over the CL’s in the 2010’s sucked arse too.

The 90s is a time I’d always wistfully look back upon.
A vast majority of Saturday 3pm kick offs, introduction of all seater stadia, Arsenal winning a European trophy and really just some great, competitive football.
What Manchester United were doing in the background (monopolising talent, spending vast amounts and weakening opponents) was an unsettling sign of things to come, though.

Inzaghi’s runs were so good, but his finishing was crap in this game tbf.
What a defender Thuram was in his prime. So fast and powerful, yet very disciplined.
Shame Parma were missing Veron. What a goal by Crespo at the end.
He was brilliant in his prime. Now thinking about him, he probably should have had a better carreer. Kinda went the wrong way after he left Parma. Joined Lazio when they started to decline, then got into that unstable Inter team that was changing players in those years like mad… Shouldn’t have left Italy, then went back to Milan and was class there but lost a lot of time by then.

Yeah, hated that Valencia team. Knocked us out both in 2001 and 2003.
Gaizka Mendieta though… One my my favourite players when just starting to watch football.
Kily Gonzales was one of the best wingers around at one point, and then they had Vicente who succeeded him, what a player. I think he was arguably the best winger in the world in 2004 and absolutely their best player when they won the league and the UEFA cup with Benitez. Was the best spanish player at the time. What a shame the injuries ruined what had to be a brilliant career.
