For a large sample size, based on historic performance, it’s a perfectly valid take.
We should have about 16-17 titles by now.

I’m not surprised by that many wins, that’s a good thing.
But every season has to be taken in isolation. How can you produce that figure?
That’s true.
But looking at this dataset, we should have way more titles to our name.
Succinctly illustrated by united being on 7 more titles in 90 less wins. ![]()
If you just want to say, Arsenal should have won a few more league titles, i definitely agree with that statement. Justifying it with win totals and points totals i cant get on board with
But that’s what I’m trying to say.
We win a ton of matches, but struggle to bring it home.
Why is that? It seems like it’s easier for northern clubs to win the league?
Shit loads of reasons.
A team that wins a lot of matches but can’t win the league, is a sign of being more of a bottler - which was the original point brought up by GC about Liverpool.
Unless there are other forces at play.
I’ll present some logic.
One season the league is won with 78, another season it’s won with 90.
Let’s average that out. 84 Points, should be enough to win a title using ‘numbers’.
Team is built to average that many Points for 6 seasons. However here comes a new challenger Manchester City, they beat that tally consecutively for the next 6 seasons.
Why should we have won more titles then?
Or let’s look at it another way.
Let’s say just like this season City drops the ball. Then another season they lose several key players. However let’s throw in a curveball, the same thing happens to us, but we just get over the line. Twice.
Arsenal for the next 5 seasons gets 87 (2nd), 88 (2nd), 78(1st), 79(1st), 88(2nd)
Man City gets the following: 90 (1st), 92(1st), 76(2nd), 75(2nd), 91(1st)
Using your numbers or even using numbers in general we ‘shouldn’t’ have won the titles we did win but ‘should’ve’ won the titles we didn’t. Even though the seasons we won we obviously won less games.
But that’s not how football works. Every season has to be taken in isolation of what happens.
Don’t tease me man!
Only 9 points behind.
Ours to lose
BUY SOME FUCKING PLAYERS KROENKE!!!
Nevermind the result. Liverpool got outclassed by a shit Man Utd at Anfield.
They’ve got plenty of tough away games left in the second half of the season. Feel free to bank on them maintaining their form in the first half of the season.
If they do they’ll finish on 90+ points, and in that case, fair play, congrats on winning the league.
We don’t really need to catch up if we could not.
Pray for Pool’s collapsed.
Better our post NYE run from last season and the title is ours. Simples.
Just get Nico and Gyökeres. Now. Do it.
Nico and Delap
Liverpool are away in their next games against Forest and Brentford so could drop points.
But we’re at home against spurs and Aston Villa and although they’re not easy, we should be beating teams like these if we are genuine title challengers.
