Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

More than Ozil’s 350k a week? I’m genuinly not sure if this is a good idea.

Twitter “ITK’s” don’t even try to hide it and people will still believe them.

More than 350k a week? Are you fucking kidding me.

Got to be bullshit, I love Auba but anything near or over that and we won’t have a wage budget left!

Can’t wait for us to freeze him out once his form drops because we were never committed to pay him that much.:man_facepalming:

With minimum interest having been shown, I doubt we’d of had to get that high on wages. Seriously be disappointed if we have though.

Like 400k on a 31 year old striker, this club is on absolute crack i swear. Thats like 22.5 mil a year without including loyalty bonuses and other bonuses. Plus ozil on 20mil a year.

No wonder the rest of the team is filled with dross and we sign Willian and Gabriel for a summer window where we finished mid table.

He’s worth 350k per week to us. 20+ league goals is not something we will find anywhere this season (unless we got massively lucky with a replacement hitting the ground running which is highly unlikely), and it would also involve a massive transfer fee on top + wages of around 200k per week anyway.

The only thing we could do is give the guy what it takes to extend him. He’s good for another 2 seasons, and in his third season final he will still do a job for us at minimum. I expect something like 50+ more PL goals from him which is the hardest thing to come by.

Forget the finances for the moment and focus on the fact we are keeping one of the best strikers in Europe, a guy who scored 4 goals against City and Chelsea in our biggest games of the season, and seems to be continuing that form with a great goal against the champions. He’s our captain and fundamental to getting back into the CL in the short term. Nothing like Özil who was never the heartbeat of the team in the same way, and was flaky when it comes to big moments.

Auba is our captain and is the image of the club right now. Losing him would result in us missing out on top 4 without a shadow of doubt, as well as dealing a huge blow to squad morale / confidence. Keeping him at pretty much all costs was critical.

I think it’s all in the wording there. “Enable him to become…” the highest paid player. So he won’t be the highest paid player, but he could become the highest paid player once Özil leaves and with the add ons etc.

Exactly and wages are always overstated in the press - just look at Willian which included the sign on fee and bonuses.

Id like to think like that, but since he’s been here we have fallen lower and lower down the table, whats the point of a player like that when you cant afford to improve the rest of the team and we play like shit and create nothing. 350k plus a week for a 20 goal winger. 1 bit of loss of form or 1 injury and we are absolutely fucked.

They wouldn’t say that in regards to ozil leaving in a years time, but he must have a high base wage with fat bonuses, i know ozil gets like 30k when he starts a game.

Letting mhki and sokratis go for free must show we are close to our absolute wage limit.

The £250k which was circling around is likely going to be the final amount + add ons and other bonuses I would imagine.

As Phoebica said, the key is the wording - he would eventually “become” our best paid player when you discount Ozil, and over the next 3 years when the extra amounts are added to his base wage.

It’s fine if it’s >£350k with winning the PL bonuses included. Otherwise we are absolutely insane lol

Players aren’t stupid, they’d never accept them clauses in a contract to Arsenal haha, we just finished 8th!

I can only imagine its around 300k and he earns alot per appearance, per goal and loyalty every year.

We are full of old players on big wages and no value, no idea what the future holds for us if we don’t start doing well.

What happens to this already average team when you lose his 20 league goals though? We become even shitter and fall lower down the table.

Even if he is on 350k a week, that’s 18m a year. What possible replacement could we bring in for that money? It would be some unknown piece of shit who takes time to even score a shitty 12 league goals and we fall lower down the table in the process.

For the money we are spending, there simply isn’t an alternative that is as good as he will be over the next 3 years.

With all the redundancies Arsenal have made, I can see why they’ve held off announcing this sooner.
