My boy is gonna be 60kg when he’s fully grown I had to name him after a Greek God!! He’s gonna be a big lad couldn’t give him a common English man’s name haha

Very handsome! What kind of dog is he?

He’s a Mastiff / Great Dane breed. Followed your advice and went down the route of making sure I went for a mixed breed of dog. Wanted one that didn’t have outrageously high energy levels all the time and they seem pretty relaxed breeds

What’s the gorgeous little god called then? Zeus?

Amazing, mastiff’s and Great Danes are like the laziest dogs around so that’s perfect for you haha

Plus having a mixed breed he should have a longer lifespan than the average 7-8 years for purebred Great Danes!

Was his name Zeus?

Yep. I couldn’t think of a suitable name for a bit dog so went with Zeus lol. We picked him up at 6kg and he’s a shade over 10kg In a couple weeks.

The vet said he’ll probably push 60kg fully grown

Is there a reason why he’s in a crate? Is it for house training?

Crate training but also gives the puppy a safe space. He loves his crate, he’s got all his toys in it (and some of my socks too the cunt) - the moment he’s tired his first instinct straight to the crate for bed

Really helps with training the puppy

Yep we did this too and he goes in there still if we are out of the house. He’s got plenty of room, a couple of toys and some water. He’s very content in there. Hasn’t manged to nab any socks yet.

When he runs into my room the first thing he does is grab something of mine and then shoot as quickly as possible into his crate lol

Ah that explains it, I asked because I’ve never really brought my dogs up like this. My dogs were abandoned puppies but as I have plenty of space for them to run around they and because they mix well and get on with each other they kind of trained themselves to how i expect them to behave.

My Mrs is the most over prepared person I’ve ever met so she went above and beyond on the reading and research. So pretty much everything she’s read and written down is how we raise the puppy for now

I have to say he’s well behaved, he knows where to do his toilet business and he’s very good at letting us know when he needs to go. He listens, he eats when he knows it’s time too and he gives the right signals

Can be a real attention seeker but all in all I’m loving having a puppy and can’t wait to see the big bastard grow

How many pups do you have?

Well they are not puppies anymore, i have 4 dogs ranging from 3 years old to 8 years, the two youngest I rescued from the roadside when they were about 3 months old ( there are so many abandoned dogs in Portugal).
But as I said I’ve got plenty of space for them to run about outside and they behave well, do their business in the same spot etc.
The main thing is they love a routine which really helps with their behaviour and training at a young age.
Treat them as part of the family and you have a faithful companion.

Sunday morning walk before I go to the footy. 30 odd KG @SRCJJ so only just over half the size your pup will be.
