I had the fear reading this post and subsequent others. Phew!
I’m the opposite I wish I introduced the leash to my dogs when they were younger, they all hate it so I’ve given up, so no trips out in public where there are cars about for them.
It’s not that American tbh. We do the gun thing a bit differently- you need to up your tweed game ![]()
:bellerin:
I doubt I’ll actually ever work Nelson on a shoot but seeing the control they have over their dogs is incredible and to even get close to that level will do me.
To be clear that picture is for illustrative purposes and is definitely not me!
After reading this thread, I really need a dog in my life again…
There’s absolutely no bond like it. I tell Walls every single day that he’s a demon and needs to stop fucking shit up around the house but couldn’t stand the thought of not having his big dumb face watching me from the window when I leave.
Yeah, it was totally the dog’s fault.
Can’t definitely see the resemblance between you and your brother haha! Handsome chap.
Echo equally as handsome tbf, that’s a good looking dog
I miss the cute puppy stage in one way, but not in others when it was complete mayhem hahaha.
He is only 2 now and still full of energy but at least he listens more.
Buying a puppy and want some advice… what are key things to look out for? I know there’s a lot of shadiness out there
Please always go to animal rescue shelters or a dig home these places are always full and need rehoming,do not go to puppy farms as you will be contributing to an overpopulated problem.
When bringing a puppy home for the first time you are gonna have to give it 27/7 attention for a while, be firm but fair and remember it’s a lifetime commitment.
Depending on the dog it’s going to need plenty of exercise and don’t give it cheap food, basically if you’ve got a full social life it’s not gonna be like that for long, otherwise get a cat.
Well I always tend to advise people to check out their local shelter first because spending £1,500 - £2,500 on a puppy when there’s tonnes of lovely dogs in need of a home is madness (imo). And you’d be surprised how many 0-1 year old dogs get let at shelters.
However if you’re set on buying a puppy all I’d say is try and get mixed breed. Pugs, King Charles Cavaliers, Labradors, Retrievers, Alsatians etc. or pretty much any pure breed dog will very often have a lot of genetically inherited health issues that can fuck them up due to generations and generations of inbreeding.
Even if you just decide to get a labradoodle or a retriever mixed with a collie etc. you’re gonna be better off.
And then I would say while they’re puppies you should a.) definitely take them to puppy class to train them (so important) and b.) socialise them with other dogs, people and kids (inviting people over to meet the puppy is a great way to do this and also telling them to bring their dogs too - just make sure your dog and their dogs are fully vaccinated etc.). Taking them to the park once they’re fully vaccinated is super important as well for the socialising aspect.
I got Echo in January 2020 and the demands of the Samoyed have certainly changed by life tbh, 2 walks a day and loves attention + grooming.
I think socialisation with other dogs is important and that’s why I sent him to doggy daycare once a week from a young age.
@SRCJJ some breeds are less high maintenance than others, for eg my brother has a sausage dog and that doesn’t as much exercise as echo.
whadda waaaaant human

Don’t let her in with that in her mouth
Hopefully the fucker is at least dead, if she does manage to get it in the house.
My cat softly carries the mouse in her mouth, brings it into the living room from the garden, lets it go and then tries to play games with it. End result is always me left trying to capture a perfectly healthy but scared shitless mouse in a box so I can get it tf outta my house.
He’s a beaut
