PES 2021

Speaking of this, I had a crazy game with Spurs where all they did was foul me everytime I got the ball. Literally it was like the old Utd vs Arsenal games at OT.
Ndombele done at least 4 yellow card challenges himself and only got 1 yellow.
Subotic for them got sent off for bringing me down 1v1 and stopping a dead cert goal. End up drawing 1-1 because of it. Was so frustrating lol.

Double post inbound

@Bl1nk So I tested that weird random LB formation you posted above during a league game:

Attacking

Sancho would join the front two creating a three-pronged attack, especially during counter attacks.
As I previously suspected, Kolasinac acted like an attacking CB rather than a fullback. He would bascially occupy the half space left by Sancho being pressed into the front line and provide an extra man in midfield. Very useful.

On the right, Pepe tended to not push up too high because Martinelli would occupy the ā€˜RWF’ sort of area. Instead Pepe would cut in more due to his AMF role. I feel you need a strong player on the side as there is no RB, so they need to be technical.

So overall I found that for attacks this was really good. It seemed to overwhelm the opposition, especially the overload on the left hand hand side. I won 3-0.

Defending

I was surprised on how diciplined my defence were considering the lob-sided formation.
Kola would not go bombing up the wing and leave a hole for the two other defenders to cover. Instead he would gradually drift into midfield as mentioned above.

Whenever Kola did go further up or was caught out of position, Guendouzi would fill in and restore a back 3.
I feel if you are going to do the above formation, one of your DMF/CMF hss to either have a high defensive awareness (more than attack awareness), or have the ā€˜track back’ Trait.

If you have two sort of Fabregas style midfielders, could be exposed.

Settings:
Counter attack / flexible / shortpass
Wing Rotation enabled

My current team. Had a very large transfer budget, so I used it wisely. Went for a mixture of promising talent and proven players. In season two now, so I’ve had three windows of transfers.

Werner is an absolute beast on PES. Also very pleased with Torreira. Proper warrior, wins possession so often. Bit disappointed with Savic, he’s a bit slow for a player in that position, reminds of of Xhaka at times. Brand is meh as well. Not excelling at anything, despite his rating. Arthur is excellent, along with Van de Beek and Golovin. Very agile and hard working players.

4-3-3 working for me. Though I’ve noticed I struggle versus shit teams at home, really. They’re a joke. 4-5-1 sitting deep. When I win them, it’s by a single goal and always a massive relief. The AI is such a coward in those games, even at 1-0 down, they just don’t play.

Big games I do well. 6 pts vs PSG and Lyon. Losing against relegation fodder cost me the league in 1st season. Might need a different tactic to break down those walls.

French league is quite enjoyable. Most teams tend to play football, the away games are usually really good, entertaining.

Honestly this pains me on the game. Some teama are ridiculously hard to break down and they do not want to attack at all in case of leaving spaces. Sometimes I’ve resorted to going ultra attack so the CB goes up front, out of sheer fruatration lol.

Nice team man. Can agree with Torreira, he’s an animal DM. Also quite technical too. I’ve even played him in a back 3 before because of his awesome defensive stats.

I haven’t done a season in the french league yet. Was always put off by it being PSG’s league. Might need to move there when I feel done at Arsenal in my current save.

Yeah same here. It’s because they come out and attack and are often end to end.

What’s your team like then? I bet you kept Calhanoglu just for set-piece duties? :grinning:

I sold him to Chelsea in January 2020 to afford better wingers haha.

Just turned it off after that screenshot will post it tomorrow so I don’t have to spell the fucking names :joy:

Quality team!

Why did you sign Geubbels? He’s in my Monaco team as well but hardly improving. Will he become good?

If you’re playing with an SS I’d recommend going for Joao Felix. Ridiculous player on PES.

He became an unreal striker on FM for me at Arsenal :joy: Was just trying him on PES. Only good backup option on here I think haha.

It’s really hard getting some talented youngsters up to a decent level.

If a player is 71 rated at 18 years I consider him a talent, but he should have a development surge at some point, I know that’s possible in PES (his form arrow is green and blinks) but it rarely happens.

I just end up selling those players at 23 years old when they’ve not even hit an 80 rating. Loans don’t help much either.

@Midfield_Maestro you got any tips for this?

I’m Mourinho on this I’m not interested in youth players. Give me players who are good now :joy:

Youth can be quote hit and miss. Really have to do your best to judge by the snippet of the trajectory graph before buying.

My rule of thumb:

16/17 yr olds - 72 lowest. Need good skill traits to be worth my time.

18 yr old - 74 lowest. Again need skill traits.

19-20 yr olds - 78 lowest with high trajectory.

Some players may not hit a spike till 2 or 3 seasons with you. My Saka for example was not progressing that much at all, then in the 3rd season hit a form spike and shot up 2 or 3 overall stats. You know when a young player is in a form spike because their form arrow is a blue flashing  for literally every game - you also get an email saying this player is progressing well and to play them.

Also I cant stress how important Team Roles are in this game, for condition, fatigue, team spirit and especially GROWTH.
As I have kept the same core players for several seasons, I have multiple Bandeiras, Virtuoso, Key Players etc. Some of my youth players training are boosted by up to 25% because of this!

Thats why its not great for team chemistry to keep chopping and changing your 11 every season. I add my 2 or 3 players at most if i need to get rid of shit or old players. Its rewarding watching the team grow.

My best project is an 18 yr old 74 Verscharen (CM) i bought fron Anderlect in my first window. 4 seasons later he’s now an 84 and has Key Player Team Role. Proper emulated a Cesc sort of trajectory.

Oo sprint button skills, that’s new to me!

They fucked up clan co op matchmaking because they let myClubs match you and every myClub has a retarded lineup like this

Finding it’s happening pretty much every search which is a shame because it’s a great mode.

PES online is truly awful, sadly. Always been. MyClub and most online matches are chaos and unrealistic.

Yeah unfortunately PES online isn’t anything to shout home about. It’s full of button delay and just not quick enough for my liking. I think this is football games in general online, which is a shame tbh as it’s fucking 2020. All other types of games don’t suffer this input delay.
