It’s a poor translation in the sense that the purpose of translation is for it to sound natural in the language you’re translating into and above all for it to be understood, and yeah, a “tear in the biceps of his left thigh” is not a very good translation on either count. 
Left femoral biceps or left hamstring would’ve been the way to go here. But what can you expect from a bunch of Fideuá eaters.
I dunno man, a lot of native English speakers would say “tear in the biceps of his left thigh”. I suppose there’s not really a decent translation in Spanish for the way in which native speakers use the term in English.
