Other Clubs' Transfers

I mean this happens all the time.

Just usually we’re the tool in that process

This is probably part of what they want to achieve at PSG and I wouldn’t be surprised if this is one of the long term goals they used to convince Mbappe to stay, to help build a stronger Ligue 1 through making PSG better and letting it trickle down, and it’s probably why Macron tried to convince him to stay, they want French football to improve it’s standing in Europe.

Part of this is talent development, to make kids want to stay the teams need to be good in Europe, they need to pay them decent wages and they need to feel like they can continue to evolve into world class players (i.e. take the final step from young talent) at home, without having to go abroad.

I bet this is the whole vision they’re going for and in turn why Mbappe staying is important for that vision, the foundation is there as they’re one of the, if not the best talent developers in the world rn, and ngl it would be great for me as a neutral if Ligue 1 would rise in quality and reputation tbh.

I can see so many reasons why it won’t work though  but fair play for trying (a quicker way would probably be to sell Lyon and OM to some oil cunts, basically be Monaco or PSG lol).

If there is something Man U are good at, it’s buying old midfielders from other PL clubs and paying them massive wages.

Didn’t they literally only do this once with Matic? I can’t think of anyone else.

And he’d immediately improve their midfield so I can’t really see why this is a bad move. I’d die for a player of Kante quality here.

Also I just checked and Matic wasn’t even 30 when United signed him he had just turned 29 so he wasn’t even old.

go to psg instead bruh

United are idiots

Kante is breaking down and is 31, hasn’t started at least 25 league games in the past three seasons, he’s part time.

They should go for not only someone younger but also with real availability like Bissouma or the like.

Doesn’t seem like they are changing no matter who they bring in

I still have mad respect for Kante, reckon if you could get more than 20 games a season from him he’d be worth the gamble. Still an unbelievable player on his day.

Hey, we’re desperate to strengthen our midfield so let’s bring in someone who is on the wrong side of 30 and will start around half of our league games commanding huge wages

Lol

But actually Kante is the kind of player who’s more effective in the harder games, so you could manage him quite well by just playing him in those.

Then you have someone more front footed to come in against the weaker teams.

Look it probably wouldn’t make sense for us given his wage demands, but with United’s budget I think he’d be a good signing

He will miss harder games though, what good is he then when he’s out injured or playing at 70%? Your main DM should be dependable fitness-wise.

His game is built around supreme athelticism as the foundation, he’s aging and he can’t stay on the pitch enough, sounds like a United signing to me.

Do City win the league without Rodri being available for damn near every game? Not in my view

But if you manage his minutes and don’t play him in the easier games he’s more likely to be fit for the harder ones you want him for.

Might get the odd training ground injury but most are going to be as a result of repeated high match time with insufficient recovery time.

I agree about Rodri, but that’s only because City have been playing the likes of De Bruyne, Foden, Silva alongside him, none of whom are suited to defending.
Meanwhile United have been playing Fred, McTominay and Matic in there who all specialise in defensive work

I just don’t think it’s the simple tbh in terms of managing minutes and also don’t think it’s wise squad building either.

Apparently it stems from him playing through the pain barrier years ago against us in the EL final carrying a knee injury. Since then there hasn’t been a sign it’s getting better and the physical demands of this league aren’t going away

Kante is a guy you build your midifeld around, how do you do so when he’s playing 40% of games as said by Tuchel?

Juan Mata as well. Felt like they had a knack for buying Chelsea’s shit for a couple of years, bit like us.

Now they also seem to be regularly signing old marquee players for a season or two - Zlatan, Cavani, Ronaldo. Let’s see how long Varane lasts getting mugged at the back as well.

I don’t think Kante would be a bad signing for united, just said the same to my Utd mate who was also moaning about the rumour, but they aren’t gonna go anywhere fast buying cast offs with fitness concerns.

Would be a very good Rice replacement

Smart if they pull it off, he can do better though

Juan Mata was like 25 or 26 when United signed him. Absolutely not the same thing

Ugh. A player we absolutely should have been all over when he moved from Valencia.
