If that’s the expectation then I think its a reasonable move.
Partly it might depend significantly on how much Conte rates Sessegnon, who would play a lot under this scenario (from what I understand Reguilon is on the way out).

Perisic in and Bergwijn out is a big upgrade, particularly on a free short term deal
Not sure Perisic is coming in as backup. My understanding is that he is meant to come in as a starter for the either LM/RM role in Conte’s 343.
Conte likes his oldies
We were linked with Perisic a couple of seasons back, CBA going to find it but I recall the reception being petty poor by most. I believe I was in favour of the move but really pushing the envelope now
Yeah, we were. Under Emery. It was January 2019 IIRC. We were linked with him, Nkunku, Suarez and Carrasco.
I liked the move back then personally. I still rate him as a player but it isn’t an inspiring move for Spurs now in my eyes. I don’t think he was signed to be backup for them which could be a worry.
It was Zaha, Perisic, Banega and Nzonzi. Emery wanted them. We would have been really cooking with those guys.
Yep, my memory was correct.
In hindsight, we could have used him that season.
Hilariously it would have been a much better use of funds than Torreira, Guendou and Pepe.
I never really cared much for Emery but I really don’t understand why our technical directors and scouts were so against giving him they players he wanted to use. Just feels like he club being at odds with itself. And of course it’s a mess were still trying to clean up.
Could we the very least have let him had Nkunku, that would have aged relatively well
I think they were really invested in the idea of a coach over a manger and stripping some of the power out of that role.
Yeah, it made sense after Wenger to not give a coach so much control over transfers but they went too far.
When the coach asks for Zaha and Nzonzi but you give him Pepe and Torreira, who are like the opposite profiles, it doesn’t make sense.
It’s such a bizarre role definition in my opinion. Because obviously the head coach gets a say in who he would like but the job role essentially makes that input worthless by definition.
It’s one thing I’m glad Arteta had the sense to make the step up toward, it’s a subtle distinction but any manager/coach should have at least 50% of a say in regard to transfers and the Directors and board with the final say.
The only time I would think otherwise would be in an interim position.
At the very least if Emery got his boys they might not have saved his Arsenal career but they might have been happier within the club. Everyone just seemed pissed off with life by the time Emery left and it just set us back even longer
Like Arteta could go next season but you’d imagine outside something drastic Odegaard, Saka, White Ramsdale etc are going to be useful for the next manager in line
What a fall from grace and so quickly. We were in for him back in 2020 to come in 2021, thankfully we went for Odegaard.
Wasn’t he hurt quite a bit?
Yep.
As much as I hate PSG, I respect their dedication to fucking Barcelona and Real Madrid whenever possible.
Sociedad might be just the place for him to get some stability. It worked for Ødegaard.
PSG shouldn’t be letting any elite French talent leave the Country
Absolutely. Especially if they want to keep Mbappe happy.
I am honestly a bit surprised they haven’t tried to make us an offer for Saliba yet. Ligue 1 team of the season and voted best young player, goes way back with Mbappe and his dad.
Yeah I can see that.
The French football world is very murky so you can be sure Saliba and his camp have been tapped up whilst he’s been over there. Expect Campos to be on alert with his contract situation
Looks like it’s done
