Well they also need someone in that position. It’s not like he’d be brought in just to look pretty in the corner. He’s a decent enough player - but like you say, not £90m good.

I suppose if Man U paid 80m for Maguire then Rice should be around the same but I’d be surprised if he went for more than 50m, and that’s still too much.
If he goes to Chelsea for 90m then it’;s just another money laundering scheme, like they did with Luiz when he went to PSG and then back to Chelsea.

You could make the argument that we did that with the Partey transfer. It obviously hasn’t really worked out.
There’s too much pedigree though not to believe in this working out.
Pretty much every midfielder we have would be probably sacrificed by most before Partey makes that list.

Most of our recent signings aren’t quite working out. Apart from Tierney who has fitness concerns the others have been iffy for one reason or another.
I hear you but I also think we’re not using him correctly. Factor in that there’s AFCON this winter and he’ll be exhausted after and a WC the following winter in Qatar and it feels like we’re never really going to get a full season out of him. He’s definitely not the midfield Jesus we were told he would be.
