Other Clubs' Transfers

City operating like a club that knows a transfer ban could be coming.

They really have no immediate need for Semenyo with Haaland, Foden, Cherki, Marmoush, Doku, Savinho, and Bobb as options for the front three. But better to get him in now while they still can and then figure out who to sell later.

Sometimes I feel that City sign players just to stop others signing them.

Mouzakitis is essentially a poor man’s Wharton. He’s the Greek talent that’s impressed me the most from this “golden” generation. To be honest though, I don’t think he makes it at top club in a top league.

Saw some rumours that Bobb is going to be off but either way your point stands, still not as bad as Chelsea for hoarding players though.

Thought Bobb was meant to be the next big thing at one point?

He looked primed to have his breakout season last year but then suffered that leg break.
Hasn’t been the same since.

Wharton to Liverpool?

Extraordinary?

@RockyMaivia can you translate this transfer lingo for us all?

It means @Flexo is gonna deck this guy for linking his boy to Liverpool.

My theory is Wharton gets exposed at a big club playing the way he does. Think he would need to change his game. Anderson much more currently suited to joining a top team.

Anderson seems a lot like Bruno G to me - very good all around midfielder suited to the PL, but doesn’t really seem to do anything at an elite level and it’s not really clear to me what his best role would be on a possession dominant side. Not sure he has the passing range and composure with the ball to be a DLP 6 but he also doesn’t contribute much in the final third so is he really the 8 you want?

I’m honestly not sure if Wharton is good enough but I can much more easily envision how he would fit into a top side as a deep lying passer and playmaker.

Wharton is a very good player. He’s a better fit for that deep role in Shitterpool’s midfield than Gravenberch or MacAllister. There is absolutely no reason why Palace should negotiate a reasonable fee though as he will have plenty of suitors.

If Wharton and Guehi both leave Crystal Palace in this window, it won’t impress Glasner and could see them slide further down the table.

Selling your best players after winning your first big trophy shows a complete lack of ambition, especially as they haven’t really replaced them adequately, and it could mean the few decent players they have left, like Mateta, could also leave as well as Glasner.

Can see a slide for Palace in the near future. They have completely mismanaged the Guehi situation. Mateta will probably need to be sold in the summer too as he will be in the last year of his deal.

I don’t think Glasner stays considering he was ready to leave if they let Guehi go and good investment seems unlikely.

They would have been a real chance of winning the UECL but it looks like their depth issues may catch up with them now. (Still a decent chance though).

With all this said, why the fuck did they pay 35m for Brennan Johnson?

Paid a similar amount for Eddie.

You won’t hear me complain about that, ever. I actually think Johnson might do okay for them because he suits their play style. I just wonder if they might have been able to spend that money more wisely.

I think Johnson is crap. But, on a counter, him and Sarr is dangerous.

I’d also trust that Palace are already scouting the lower leagues for the next Eze or Wharton.

Selling Johnson but keeping Richarlison :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I think it’s actually an ok move for them, right now they need some relative stability and he’s somewhat proven in the prem. Eddie was a much bigger waste of funds.

Agree they’ve mismanaged the guehi situation though and probably should’ve cashed in on mateta last summer while his stock was highest.
