Will endorse this move only if we sign one more quality forward in the summer. Clubs like us aiming to get back into the big time need to have a few top players vying for the forward spots. Liverpool have 4-5 fighting for the front 3, City used to have the same. No reason why we shouldn’t either.
How do we sell someone who has an ACL? He’s going nowhere
While I’m not hugely big on this signing I am surprised at how hugely negative the reaction to the idea is.
Simplistically looking he’d have easily buried at least half of the chances Martinelli and Havertz have fumbled this season.
This is a short-term signing to bolster our striking department for the next 2-3 years.
The club also has long-term plans for this area. I think a bit more calm is required.
Wayne Rooney that renowned presser
I get what you’re saying but I think there’s more to it than this
They were by and large explosive players and plenty relied heavily on pace and explosive movement
Pressing is just another part of it that gives me pause
Knew you’d like this. ou and @Calum are the two that I’ve seen ask for Watkins the most around here.
Hopefully we pull this off.
The Guardian now reports the offer was actually made last week, and got rejected because Villa have no intention to sell.
This is all likely moot since it’ll be Duran that moves and Watkins is all they have left
They’re seemingly more enagaged in offloading him anyways
If we had 60m to spend, why not spend it earlier? Why not spend it on a younger player? Why not spend it on Watkins before he scored against us?
Even if you like the player and the move, those things don’t make sense.
Anyway al nassr will sign Duran for 80m and save us.
We need Ronaldo to intervene here. Duran’s better but he ain’t squaring it for him to score #953 or whatever the fuck he is on now.
Boniface will though.
Your preference, please.
- Watkins
- No one
Apparently the bid was made and rejected last week.
I agree though, if we really wanted Watkins we probs could’ve got him in the summer of '23.
That said, the question to ask now is are we a better side with Watkins in it than without?
I mean we could say we’re a better side with Scott mctominay than without.
Comparing a potential 60m signing to nothing to make it seem better suggests to me it ain’t all that hot a move.
Not a fan of this, the age profile is a big one for me.
Age isn’t a problem for me, just don’t get the timing.
Wanted Watkins 3 years ago but no one was ready for that convo. Stinks of panic buy now, but he’d still do a solid job. The timing is awful as well leaving Villa in shit, they likely won’t sell espcially if Duran is on his way out too. Do better Arsenal you dum dums.
Watkins does feel a little desperate.
Not the intention of my poll. Im guaging how opposed people are to the specific signing. There are other polls on here with longer lists of targets.
