Ollie Watkins

We have to get bodies in but this isn’t the only option available. If we really wanted Watkins, why didn’t we bid for him start of the window? Especially now that Aston will are considering selling Duran.

I would have gone for the alternative approach and cancelled Neto’s loan, promoted a GK and gone for Ferguson on loan with no obligation.

I trust Arteta to get us results because he has got us competing again but unfortunately I do not trust their recruitment anymore, as recent signings have been underwhelming. Hope I’m proven wrong.

This football club man, we’re always at the center of everything, I love it

No one was talking about Watkins before, this is just desperation and I can’t advocate unless we were in a genuine title race separated by a few points

This is a move that sets you back

60 Million now comes straight out of the summer budget I reckon.

Elite finisher on his day, but can be particularly patchy in output.

Good all round game, great presser, English, loves the club, fought his way up from the lower levels.

There’s a lot to like, and in this day and age I don’t think it’s a horrendous price point.
My biggest issue is if it means missing out on someone like Gyokeres

Boyhood Arsenal fan.

do you know how motivated he will be? :fire:

Arsenal fans: Sign a proven forward!
Arsenal: (tries to sign a proven forward that got 32 G/As in the PL alone last season)
Arsenal fans: What are you doing?!

Hope this doesn’t mean the Zubimendi deal falls through.

It’s not that simple at all

Ah man, some never learn

I have not been keen on Watkins in a while myself but why are people so disappointed about this?

You’d think we’re going for West Ham’s Fuhrich.

About as good of a deal

Severe Goldilocks syndrome

Because of the type of striker he is and the the amount of hard running he’s already done

These kind of players drop off significantly around this age

Auba is different case because one he was more prolific and he also was nowhere near as hard a worker as Watkins is off of the ball, Watkins has been running hard as shit since the championship barely misses games and he’s a so so finisher

The decline is likely round the corner and we’ll be left holding the bag

Quality and fee aside. If Watkins was available. He was always available. He already cost us 2 points lol.

This is the ‘we’re out of ideas’ signing.

Jamie Vardy might disagree

Oh ok one of the players who was a late bloomer and didn’t clock up the same amount of games at this age in addition to clearly being an outlier

Salah would also disagree.

Again Salah doesn’t press like Watkins and never has it was Mane that did so and surprise surprise he was cooked by this age

Look at Son, Sterling, Owen, Torres, Auba, Rooney, Alexis, Rooney the list goes on

Now we’re talking

OA is hillarious!

Arsenal dont sign a forward they can get now and wants to come = not serious, no plan, desperate.

Arsenal sign Watkins = not serious, no plan, desperate.

Arsenal pursue Gykores/Isak/anyone deemed good currently but other club wont sell, player wont move till the summer = not serious, no plan, desperate

Basically whatever happens there will be many people “not sold on” player, “dont believe hes the answer” OR clubs not serious, no ambition, clueless
