Ollie Watkins

Isn’t 29 just the new 26-27 with modern sports medicine etc?

For the last 5 seasons, Watkins’ G/A return in the EPL is very, very good.

Not world-class by any means, but who is these days?

I’m also not sure that £60m today, completely rules out another forward addition in the summer. The revenues we’re bringing in from sponsorships, TV deals and advanced stages of the UCL & EPL for 2-3 years in a row has got to pay off dividends at some point.

Maybe this is it, and we have always had the money?

Also we will be selling quite a few players in the summer anyway.

Watkins + Zubi is only how much… £120m? We need to be looking at buying at least another player or two in the summer.

I’ll trust Arteta and the board this last time + summer to get the players we need to compete at the highest level in all comps and finally win something.

I really hope this isn’t true.

This makes me question Arsenal’s project management on a whole different level. Incompetency.

Splashing £60m as a starting bid for a player reaching his 30s does not make sense. I don’t see Watkins and that kind of money pushing us to the next level to compete for the big titles.

Have Arsenal really not got scouts anymore? The recruitment and signings have been underwhelming so far.

It’s in no way that simple

He’s an explosive player also who’s played a crap ton of games in England no less

Football is littered with cautionary tales with explosive players signed at that kind of age and they were better players than Watkins

We’ could be looking for a new striker in two years or less

Auba was nearly the same age

Has he really played that many games? Doesn’t seem at all an outlandish figure :man_shrugging::man_shrugging:

I dunno Arsenal. I really don’t know.

I don’t love the move but there’s a high chance it ends up being a good one.

Can’t complain about everything. If we do nothing we’re cunts but if we buy a player who’s been almost a 1 goal every two games player for almost 3 seasons we’re cunts too.

Its a brave play but gotta make them sometimes.

I’m in the same camp as everyone who isn’t sure about this tbh. I just don’t think he’s that guy to take us to the next level

I just don’t see it with him

Watkins and Havertz as your two main strikers signing both for well over £100m shows this project is suspect AF, for me it’s far from convincing

We need a striker sure but I’d just wait until the summer if this is the answer

You can tell we don’t have a bona fide technical director if this is what they’re settling on

I agree tbh. If we’re willing to bid 60m for him why not go for Sesko or Gyokeres for 60m

If we can still get one of Sesko, Williams or Gyokeres in the summer, then I don’t think this is the worst deal we could make.

Maybe Arteta really wants short term success more than anything. Win a big trophy then move onto a new project.

Man we aren’t signing another striker if they sign Watkins c’mon now

Be serious

If Kroenkes really are being back the purse strings, good!

Hold this back because wtf

in that case we have serious problems when it comes to recruitment at this football club.

That’s bene clear for a minute now lol

This kind of attempt at a move is very illuminating

If Watkins was the man to drop 60m on then why not do it the second Jesus got injured?

The thing is, we might.
