I’ve got mixed feelings about the Watkins bid but no way are they making a purely performative bid, especially with Arteta openly pleading for a signing.
I would feel a lot better about a Watkins bid if we were closer in the league and not on the precipice of being knocked out of both domestic cups.
As things stand, we’re going to need either a Liverpool implosion or a very improbable result next week at St James Park to be competing for anything beyond the CL this season. That sucks but it is what it is and I have some real reservations about mortgaging the future to chase the very improbable this spring.
Sesko doesn’t seem very motivated to move in January and RBL don’t want to sell without a replacement, I don’t think the price is really the issue.
