Ollie Watkins

Yeah there is plenty of great attackers outside of premier leage (since we cannot loan from PL) who are available for loan. Arteta sad it multiple times we will only bring the right players

Yeah, I saw some quotes from the game yesterday. I know communicating in English has never been his strength but he really worded that weirdly.

I do not get a message that Watkins is not for sale for that. If anything, he said everyone has a price.

We can also loan from the PL if we send a couple mill to Bournemouth and make Neto permanent or send him back.

But either way enough options for a warm body rather than 60m on Watkins last minute.

That’s a fair point, i am a bit annoyed as it seems that us fans always complain, from bring someone/ anyone to why are we bidding for Watkins we are desperate, that’s what i was trying to say.

Absolutely disgusting of Arsenal to submit a bid for one of Villa’s players right before a massive European match against a bunch of Irn Bru factory workers.

Ashamed to be a fan of such a classless club.

Apparently we’re still planning to follow this up. What do they know that we don’t?

Aston Villa maybe have a replacement lined up?

Rashford, Joao Felix?

Ain’t Felix the Duran replacement? Perhaps Watkins is prepared to force the move? This is probably his last chance to play for a big club.

Watkins can’t force the move… Villa have no incentive to sell someone they’ve got tied down to a multi year deal whilst also banking nice money for their second choice striker.

He can kick up a fuss but Villa really don’t need to care about it.

Well, he can try. :eyes:

Should have done that ahead of our game with them ffs.

Yeah the timing of this bid is a joke

He doesn’t seem the type tbh

Yeah, his professionalism seems to be one of his best attributes, not sure throwing his toys out of the pram because Villa don’t want to sell their last recognised striker would reflect that.

Not much time left anyway, we’ll see how this all plays out soon.

Dunno, Sky Sports saying they expect another Arsenal bid.

Though it’s questionable whether Watkins is the answer to our problems, the argument they won’t sell Watkins because they just sold Duran isn’t a certainty as we ourselves sold Cesc and Nasri in the same window. But man, if Arteta just signed a striker in the summer like the 80% of the fans wanted, hell, even if it was Watkins, we wouldn’t have to come to this ffs. Might even have had a few more points on the board.

We can bid but unless we’re willing to pay monopoly money like what it’d take to sign Isak I don’t see them selling

If it’s true club is persisting only to get turned down and walk away with nothing then they look like even bigger mugs

Seems like this deal’s dead in the water according to Orny.

Looking forward to seeing Sterling run around like a useless chicken again for 25 more games.

Yay.

I do think regardless of if we wanted this signing or not we would have eventually been on side with it it. Frankly I’m as annoyed about the timing of our actions as Aston Villa supposedly are.

Feels like we have gone half way house between holding out for the summer to act properly and trying to piece together for the sake of rescuing this season. Either way it doesn’t fill me with any confidence.
