It is straightforward to let slip that Giroud was playing in Ligue 2 until he was 24 and he was at Montpellier until he was at 26… He has attained hell of a lot since then!
(As well as winning Ligue 1 with Montpellier, and being Ligue 1 top scorer that season).
Ozil stans(and there’s plenty of them) keep on hating on Giroud yet Ozil probably likes Oli G like most players that played with him.
Giroud’s excellent positioning is a big part of why Ozil used to create so many chances with him.

Bit different to not being a professional player though…
Plenty of guys play in Ligue 1 until that sort of age and also bear in mind Giroud made his NT debut 11 years ago.
I think what @Cristo meant was Giroud spent his teens in Grenoble’s youth academy, where after scoring 15 goals for their reserve team in the French 5th division, he signed his first professional contract at the age of 21. Giroud was loaned even out to Istres, in the French 3rd division, where he did better, scoring 10 plus goals in the 07/08 season.
