Oleksandr Zinchenko (17)

Liability, but we’ve had Kolasinac and Leichsteiner. He’s well above that level.

Start this guy again Bayern and you’re asking for trouble.

Dude will get cooked

The hate for this guy is so irrational. Maybe people dont like his attitude or something. We used to loose our heads with Mustafi, Bellerin and them man. How the time has changed.

It’s not hate, he is a defensive liability

I remember we were stuffing teams left right and center a few weeks ago and I never worried we would concede a goal with Kiwior. With Zinchenko I worry all the time.

You were worried we’d concede today ? I wasn’t tbh… Brighton barely had a chance.

I think his not so great defending stands out more because he plays besides monsters like White, Saliba and Gabriel.

I don’t think Kiwior is particularly better defensively if I’m being honest. Only just, especially out wide.

Tomiyasu beats both defensively, easily.

Zinny beats both offensively, easily.

When Zinchenko plays, yes, wouldn’t be the first time he makes a mistake and we concede a goal.

Well let’s see who is right on Tuesday. I’m sticking by my gut and saying Kiwior starts against Bayern. Zinny being rotated and Tomi only being used as an impact sub, because I reckon we want him to also be ready to cover at RB if Ben is injured or needs resting.

Zinny is our worst defender. Could’ve cost us with the amount of misplaced passes. Needs to step it up.

I think we should look to move him on in the summer.

Zinny offers the team something different. I think we all need to remember what a revelation he was when he signed for us because he helped transform the way we play.

That said, if a big offer came in for him, I’m not adverse to selling, but all depends what our plans for defence are.

If we see Timber as the successor to Zinny as a LB that can invert, with Kiwior as a backup LB, and Tomi as the backup for Ben at RB, then moving Zinny on in the summer makes sense, if we sign a new CB who can rotate with Saliba and Gabriel. However, it is important that we don’t break up a winning defence. I still rate Zinny and what he brings to the team.

Kiwior’s crime was getting done by Bernardo Silva.

He won’t always be against Man City, and defensively he gives me more reassurance.

Ideally a fit Tomiyasu starts Vs Bayern, but if not then Kiwior > Zinchenko at LB.

If we have Benny overlapping or inverting on the right, and we have Jorgi or Partey making passes in the middle…

Do we really need Zinny’s offensive skillset which always undone by his defensive liabilities?

The only player that really bothers me in this squad, in the sense that you can never rest easy when he’s on the pitch. It’s not a coincidence that we have our best defensive record now, with him not playing most of the games.

He’s got a role to play but not against teams like Brighton that press us, love having the ball and have pace on the wings.

great for the role against weaker teams that we can dominate but we should upgrade on him as soon as we can

I wonder if Arteta can figure out how to use him higher up the pitch. He really is a very talented attacker

I don’t think he should start against Villa. Kiwior is my preference. I think he’ll be better at dealing with their physical forwards.

Some of us (me included) are probably being a bit harsh on Zinny. He was so good last year but ultimately, he got found wanting at crunch moments.

The evolution of this team has us so defensively strong. White, Tomi, Kiwior and Timber fit this narrative so much more than Zinny.

In the end, if it is voluntary, it is nobody’s fault if “not going” or go when “asked”.

Aurier just overreacted.
