Oleksandr Zinchenko (17)

I saw Arteta talking to Zinny at FT. He had his finger up as well. Looked serious, lol.

Zinny and Benny got into it at FT. Arteta went to him to try and calm him down.

That tweet implies that Ben White cares about something. Ridiculous.

Zinchenko didn’t even bother trying to defend the long ball. Cowardice / laziness / arrogance - which ever one it’s a poor look.

He was never anything more than an average defender. Passable. But he’s regressed into a very bad one. Massive liability.

A massive weak link he is in our squad…we should look to move him on.

The thing that annoys me the most about him is he does stuff like not defend something basic and he will be the first to complain the loudest.

Lol zinchenko played well tonight and still gets slated. He was one of the best going forward and that’s what he’s in the team for.

Tbf to Zinny, he was one of our best players today.
Sure, he fucked up for that goal but so did Saliba.

He really was. He was all over the pitch (innq good way)

Amazing the first few posts are him getting slated, was probably our best player in the 1st half and the goal imo was more down to Saliba’s laziness.

Zinchenko is inconsistent and a liability for a defensive player at a top four club and probably the reason why Guardiola let him come here.

He’s still fairly young and has played at the top level in the PL for several seasons so we could probably get back the 30m we paid for him.
I’m sure Chelsea could help us out, especially after they ripped us off with Havertz. :grinning:

He absolutely should not be sold at all

Zinchenko is lucky Timber got injured.
Havertz is lucky Zinchenko was not available for the number 8 position.

thought he was great.

these games against lesser teams where we have 75% possession and they defend low and he can creep up to the 10 position almost, I think is exactly why we bought him, he should always play these games. He’s not for defending against Mo, if he does either we have injuries or that’s on Arteta.

He can also likely fill in as a cm if we need one in less competitive games.

He did have a very good game

He does tend to do better against the teams we dominate against especially when we have so much of the ball.

No he doesn’t need to be sold but for me we need to have a different profile in the position like a Pedro Porro for example, none of our FB’s are in that mould.

When you have a calf injury every 3 weeks and then get asked to defend the best RW in the league (caught him out just once btw), what do people expect?

Quite clear if tomi was available he’d have played the Liverpool game at anfield, we’ve seen Mikel do it before.

I’m not sure why anyone’s surprised he’s a bit weak defensively, he’s not a natural full back but he’s a key part of our system for the majority of games. When Timber is fit he may have a challenge on his hands if Jurrien can do the same going forward (doubt) but better defensively.

The key with him is his form on the ball tbh. Recently his passing has been more precise and incisive which has helped sustain our attacks against low blocks.

If he’s giving the ball away and not providing much attacking reinforcement he’s essentially providing no benefit. You’d rather have a more stable defender if he’s below the level on the additional midfielder aspect. He’s never going to be able to raise his level defensively to the extent of being able to win out over the best forwards in 1v1 situations. In reality it’s mad to even ask that of a midfielder.

I’m definitely missing something. His passing is penetrative mostly this season. Obviously, he’s comfortable on the ball, but I much preferred what Tomi was giving us.

Weak link and Blanco was right to get stuck into him.

If I was Arteta I’d definitely keep Zinny - as a midfielder, as an alternative for CM/midfield positions.

He’s probably a beter alternative for Ode nowadays than he is as a LB.

The guy is an experienced PL player, in his best years. He has special ability under pressure, in tight areas. His passing is inconsistent but I think he can still improve as a CM.

He’s definitely a more stable, reliable CM option than Vieira or guys like that.

But defensively, you just absolutely can’t rely on him.

Where does Zinny rank amongst the LBs/LWBs we’ve had during the Emirates era?

Is he the best :eyes:?

Doubt it, have yet to see anyone come close to Andre Santos yet gays.
