Oleksandr Zinchenko (17)

Crap. The crossbar saved him from more Anfield tears.

at this rate, I’d trust a defensively-minded academy prospect at LB more than Zinchenko right now.

He’s just not a defender, like at all. Most of us would beat him 1 on 1

Tierney?

Cut him some slack, he had to against the second best right forward in the world.

Zinny was at fault for the goal yesterday but you have to give credit to Salah for scoring it.

Zinny offers much more to the team and sometimes the compromise is the defence. Against most teams Zinny is fine defending. For Liverpool, City and other tough opposition I fully expect in the future that Timber starts who is much more solid.

ooh, I forgot about that guy. I also think he’s not at the required level.

Good player on his day, but ultimately he’s Europa level talent.

Zinch was always going to be the weak link up against Salah. I thought Gabriel had to do more to help him on the goal.

Said the same during the game. Not that I blame Gabriel, but should have closed down Salah more considering how weak Zinny is.

I don’t think it’s anybody’s fault really. Just a quality goal. If Gabriel pushes right up to zini he leaves a huge hole in the near post for either jones or gakpo to get the cut back.

Sometimes great players just execute and beat you.

I think Zinny might have cheated a bit more and forced Salah right but when you’re on an island against a player of that quality it’s just tough.

Jesus also probably gave TAA too much time. Our press was designed to funnel the ball to Konate and away from VVD so they dropped TAA into Konate’s position and we didn’t adjust quickly enough.

Zin showed Salah, POTY Salah, CL and Prem winning Salah, onto his favoured foot and let him have the run of the box. 100% his fault :joy:

If only we had Tavares in the squad

That would have been an absolute calamity.

It was bad but tbf I think he had some worse moments in the match. He’s just a liability for me in big games. He’ll make a mistake basically every match.

He isn’t doing well enough in the ball to justify his starting position in tough games. Can’t wait for Tomi to be back.

Tbf to him, he was very good against City. Even had to take on Doku at one point.

Maybe but equally have to give it to Salah for the goal. If Saka had scored that we would have been all over that.

Yeah, my sphincter could have created a diamond during the match. Can’t say I was loving it.

Yep.

While Zinny is not the best defender, the goal he was at fault for was scored by one of the top 5 players in the world.

As @Powderfinger posted, sometimes, you just get beat.

Zinchenko wasn’t beat because Salah is world class, Zinny was beat because he just isn’t very good at defending. Didn’t have to be Salah, it could’ve been any decent RW there.

FWIW, I don’t think 23/24 Tomiyasu or Timber gets beat there in that game.

But I can’t blame him too much, he’s 2nd/3rd choice for a reason when everyone else is fit.
