We must be selling a striker or two then?
Fabrizio said we’ll look at a striker if Lacazette leaves. But it’s moreso an opportunity.
If there is someone good available for a good price.
Edouard fits the bill.
I’m not entirely sure what that means about Auba and Balogun.
Just proving the point that Leicester are a direct rival as well.
We’re not.
They’re much better than us.
Keep Balogun, have Martinelli, now want to sign Édouard.
Just more really smart thinking by the club.
I think the club is smart in wanting to bring in a young talisman striker to take over from Auba, whether it be Odsonne (weird name) or someone else. We really need to get a high performing striker if we hope to get back up the table and challenging for trophies.
Martinelli looks great but I still think he’s too young to take on such a responsibility on his own. Balagun offers competition for our other strikers but still too early to tell with him.
Edouard looks like an Upgrade on what Giroud was in every way and what we wanted Laca to be.
He’s got good link up play, he’s strong, he’s tall, he’s fast, has good passing range and is clinical in front of goal. I think his attributes would definitely suit the premier league.
How do you you keep Auba, Edouard and Balogun happy though?
Auba will want to start most of the games.
Edouard wouldn’t be happy warming the bench for Auba.
Balogun will probably want to play more often than every full moon.
All valid points but I guess that’s on mr smooth brain to work out. We definitely need to add upfront although in my opinion (prolly not very popular) it’s not as vital as say upgrading right back, cam and central midfield. I think we got more than enough upfront if played properly to get the goals we need.
Auba on the wing, Edouardo up top and Balogun sent to Berlin because he dared to ask for playing time
The priority for me is performance on the pitch. Whoever performs the best deserves to play, managing the happiness of a 19 year old striker falls far down on the list of priorities as an Arsenal manager.
If we sign Edouard and he’s a resounding success then the squad will naturally start to shape itself around the man who most deserves to be our starting striker.
What’s clear is Auba needs to step his game up next season and the competition provided by a hungry 23 year old is something we can all get behind.
Can’t believe we have this conversation and the majority don’t have much faith in Auba next season.
It’s absolutely shocking how bad Auba has been ffs.
I have complete faith in Auba if he were allowed to play 38 games next season at CF.
And doesn’t get any flus.
I’m hoping it’s s tactical flu and he’s just being rested for Thursday night again.
We have three strikers atm so over the summer it would just be a case in changing the players. I genuinely think that Laca will be sold in the summer for a good amount of money and I really rate Edouard as his replacement so would welcome his arrival. I can see him being a deadly clinical striker for us for many years to come, providing we keep three good attacking midfielders behind him to ensure good supply/creation of chances…the prospect of: Edouard and Saka…Ødegaard…and Buendia, with ESR, Pepe, and Martinelli in the mix as well, would be a very strong attacking lineup.
(Assuming European football) we will have PL, FA cup, League Cup, and European games - we need a big enough squad and we need strength and depth. You could also argue that Leicester is in the same position with Vardy.
I think if we want him, we could get him. Rumour was his price may be as low as £15m in the summer which is an absolute bargin, especially if we can sell Laca for £20m+ and make savings on the wage bill (given Laca is one of the biggest earners)…we can reinvest that money/savings in other new additions.
Currently getting pelters for his non-performance versus Rangers this afternoon. Celtic fans comparing him to Dembele and saying the latter is much better.
For those that believe Arsenal should sign the lad, is really that good? Are you sure he’s an improvement on Lacazette?
No
I said earlier this season that despite early promise, I wouldn’t want to sign him as I haven’t really seen any development in his game.
We have to pass on this move unless the fee is low.
Not for Arsenal
He’s more Leicester / West Ham
