Nottingham Forest

Also, they are benefitting a bit (Only a bit because other clubs are) that in recent seasons clubs at the bottom seem to be absolute shit.

Firefighter coaches need to make a return, they had their place. Painful watching these teams just lose all the time.

Everton, Wet Spam and Wolves?

Fine by me

It’s obvious Leeds will ditch the yank soon. Hasn’t got a clue how to set up against pressure in games.

Shit in both of his jobs in major European leagues. Writing is on the wall.

There have been rumours Leeds have already started looking for a new coach, I don’t understand though why they keep bringing him American players, not to put 2+2 together but he’s obviously a big factor in those?

Probably just twitter shit at the minute.

Marsch has steadied the ship there. They were haemorrhaging goals under Bielsa. If PL survival is the top of the Leeds’ board agenda, I think Marsch does that pretty comfortably overall.

Has he? They’re one point above the relegation zone.

They’ve got a good team imo. Yes they lost Raphinha but losing KP for the money they did was a blessing in disguise considering his availability and bad performances last season.

I’m probably cherry picking some of their results and performances to some degree.

We were lucky to win up there. They beat Liverpool at Anfield. They also do very well in the games they lose (e.g. Villa)

They perhaps are drawing what are becoming “six pointers” for them. Makes the task of getting higher in the bottom half of the table more difficult.

What he’s done with some of the youngsters has been great, too.

(I think they’ve also played one less game than the rest)

They play nice football but they are easy to attack and play through.
Never seen a team so lightweight off the ball. Not prepared to sacrifice ten percent of his set up to press.

I like the transfer strategy. You cannot rely on limited scouting & hope the 6 or 7 players you got in turn out to be good enough to keep you in the PL.

Give your manager enough options so that you can identify the players you can stick with for the next few seasons, get rid of others and then become conservative with your transfers.

They have spent 150m so far so it is not some record-breaking activity.
Spending the same amount on 3-4 players wouldn’t have helped them.

It’s amazing how offended everybody is by Forest having the pull and money to attract players like Navas, Lingaard, Lodi and now Ayew. It’s a weird signing is Ayew, but ‘We/They sign who we want, we/They sign who we wanttttttttttt. Nottingham Forest, we sign who we want.’

They don’t have pull. Only money. In 2023 no player on the continent has a clue about the history of Forest.

Players will see the likes of Lodi, Lingaard and Navas and see that Forest have ambition(s). They’re more attractive than say Fulham or Bournemouth and have an incredible fanbase.

Of course, cash is king and that’s what really attracts these players but that goes without saying. Casimero, Varane and Bruno didn’t join United because of their treble in 99. They joined because of money.

They’ve gone too far with the amount of signings but you don’t really hear about rumblings in the dressing room. A lot of Forest’s players are on short term deals or loans, so if they stay up, you’ll see a solid base of Premier League players who can be improved upon.

Cooper won a World Cup as well so some of the English players in their early twenties may see Forest as an option next year. He’s a bit older but Loftus-Cheek for example might like the idea of joining.

I’m quite invested in Forest as you can tell! Passionate Gooner but went to many more Forest games as a child. Still do. Just feels like Forest get quite a bit of unwarranted bad press. The club were in a transfer embargo a few years back. The owner has done a great job.

I think the extension of Cooper’s contract is proving a masterstroke now.

The fans took to Cooper almost right away, too. I can’t recall them being like this since Billy Davies was there.

The fans love him. His brother and son come to most home games; he’s fully immersed himself in the city, club and culture. I think he’s bloody brilliant except for when hel leaves three strikers on the bench to opt for Johnson as the main striker.

I can’t see how anyone would equate Lingard, an old Navas and Lodi to ambition. They’re the kind of signings Fulham and other mid table PL signings can make at the drop of a dime.

I like Forest, I hope they stay in the division and history is behind a club like them. But nobody cares about Cooper winning an u17 WC back in 2017 and nobody looks at the loan signing of Navas and thinks “yeah this club has ambition”. Players probably look at the money they have to Lingard as a sign that they’re prepared to pay good money for someone they deem to be talented but they don’t really see ambition in that

Once Forest clear a bloated squad we’ll get an idea of where they sit but right now they’ve got a lot of work to do before anybody looks at them as an attractive prospect with a big future. They’re still in a relegation battle and right now it’s money they use to attract players and also opportunity they’re prepared to give to bigger named players who’ve fallen off.

Aitor Karanka was another one the fans got behind.

Just on the first point alone. Give me some examples of esteem players that Fulham have bought in from top clubs. Willian is the closest but he came from Brazil and is in his mid thirties.

Lodi, Navas and Lingaard (less so now) are internationals who have made an impact at top teams in the not too distant past. Are you really telling me that players don’t look at this when considering Forest.

If not, you’d surely have to agree that our future targets wouldn’t give a rats arse about the likes of Jesus, Partey and Zinchenko now? The pull is the same as when it were Laca, El Nenny and Monreal (I like Nacho but he’s not exactly an example of player pull).

You missed my point completely about Cooper winning the World Cup. He has worked with a lot of England’s golden generation. Now I don’t think Foden and Mount will be signing for Forest but he will have players from that squad who trust him.

Exactly. Players look at Forest as a retirement home, lol.

Majority of the guys that went there took advantage of Marinakis throwing money around like he does with Olympiacos. Chances are, if he didn’t sign them for Forest, they would go to Olympiacos.

Fallacy though. Name me over five players signed this season who fit that criteria.

You’ll struggle because I am and I follow them fair closely. I’ll give you half of Lingaard as he technically should be in his peak and only has a one year deal
