Noni Madueke (20)

This is absolutely how I feel as well :joy::joy:

I’d love to seem some fucking twitter nerd do a side by side analysis of penalties from the 90s with stutter penalties now to see what the success rate is.

I know I’m right.

I just dont think age or social media have anything to do with it.

Panenka is an absolute wanker pen and they came about in the 70s.

Ah come on the panenka is class when it works, admittedly looks completely stupid when it doesn’t.

The stutters, the pogba shite and the hop skip and jump run ups are all truly twattish. They’ve become more common because some of the top players are the ones doing them.

I can aesthetically enjoy a panenka but its essentially the same thing as the stutter run up and i mention it as a way of showing that players have been trying to gain an additional advantage from the penalty spot for a long time.

I don’t even like that they do the camera angle from behind on some pens ffs. I’m 100% in the just fucking smash it Julien Dicks style camp.

Pretty sure they do it to gain an edge/because they think it works well, not because they get to flex on the gram or tiktok lol

Very direct, very effective. Have seen him fluff two pens already in the time he’s been here though. Not again please.

I remember being at Luton many years ago, and maybe the netting wasn’t as strong then as it is now, but I’ll never forget seeing Nat Lofthouse thrash a penalty busting through the back of the net. That’s the way to take ā€˜em.

General thoughts on Madueke so far?

I’ve seen people praise him but all I see is a Gervinho regen.

Direct winger who can beat his man and cause chaos in the final third but there’s zero end product.

Still feel like Chelsea are winners out of this transfer…for now.

That tends to be how transfers work though…

I like him. At least someone in our team needs to be direct :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I don’t hate either madueke or eze as squad players but we had obvious better options to consider over the last two years. 120m not that well spent in my book.

?

Arteta’s mistake was not starting Saka.

Decent. I’m disappointed that Arteta hasn’t used him and Saka on at the same time more.

What I mean is that any player signed by a club has to prove their worth to their new club…until this happens, the selling club are the winners out of the deal.

Signings can hit the ground running. You should know. You never stop going on about Zubimendi

Yeah, because he’s be excellent. Madueke, although I really like him, still has to prove himself at Arsenal. So I agree with what you were saying, but this is typically the default position for most transfers.
