Never expected him to cost any less. 23, England international, Chelsea starter and one of their better attacking players last season. I don’t like him but that’s his price in the market these days.

There’s nothing wrong with him. We’ve just paid over the odds for him because we’re fucking idiots. He’s a decent player just not a 50m player.

He’s fine, it’s just that we don’t need a 50M right winger atm.
As long as it doesn’t stop us from getting Eze I’ll be OK with it.
If it means we don’t get Eze then it’s a huge mistake.

£50m is crazy price for someone who isn’t a nailed on starter
I don’t mind paying a premium price for a young high level system fit player who can back up Saka BUT if the plan is to play him from the left, then I am highly sceptical of the move.
Chelsea fans have zero issue shifting Madueke and brining in blue chip LW prospect in Gittens for no expense
For the same price btw. I’d have much rather have a taken a punt on Gittens if he’s going to be playing out on the left

My assumption is the club view back up for Saka as more critical than LW output. I guess they’re banking on Martinelli to find form, which, tbf, he may do

Gittens has proven nothing, a classic shiny new toy, and has all sorts of holes in his game and has already alienated a manager with his attitude and selfishness on the pitch. Every BvB supporter seems delighted to be rid of him for that fee.
If Madueke prevents us from getting Eze or from resigning Nwaneri, its a terrible signing. But we wouldn’t be a better side with Gittens instead.

I share the same stance, repeated it many times.
Just saying we were never going to get him for anything less as maybe many were hoping for.
Sure it doesn’t make sense now… But I’ll just take a look from the other angle for a moment… If we do end up getting someone like Eze, or another new starting LW, then getting someone like Madueke as just a squad player means we’re hugely ambitious atm and you could only applaud the move in that context.
We’ll see. We can only juge the window properly at the end.
