Nico Williams

Not only do they play differently and they’re not at the same stage of their careers.
Pepe was Lille’s best player who were competing with PSG for the title, he was also one of the most in-form forwards in Europe.

Nico is one of the biggest talents in world football. Closer to Mudryk context-wise and stylistically.

Pepe would a be a closer comparison for Gyokeres context-wise. You could even make an argument that stylistically they both relied quite a bit on goals in transition and statpadded quite a bit with penalties.

Apart from Saliba, Gabriel and rice? Yamal is a Barca youth product, so the equivalent would be Saka…

Unless you mean compete with wages? In which case arsenal can’t compete.

His name has really faded when it comes to Barca. Raphinha’s form definitely a factor and they seem to be exploring signing Rashford instead. Ship serms to have sailed(for now).

PSG who were keen last summer are already sorted in that position. I don’t see Serie A teams affording him. Bayern is probably the only team that could from Bundesliga but they’re keen on getting Wirtz.

Huge opening for PL sides to finally land him. Us and Chelsea are definitely in the mix and I can see City and Liverpool looking at him considering they’re also looking at forwards.

Not really a surprise with the continued emergence of Yamal and how good raphinha has been.

Torres can always go back to the wing as well.

I hope we get him and would love it if we do so ahead of the preseason tour.

Tuesdays suck.

It would be a shame but I think there’s more choice when it comes to bringing a winger in.

It’s so fucking quiet on our front ffs.

The worries have started

Too soon. Take a few days off the rumour mill, it’ll drive you nuts.

I can’t blame footballers for trying to make a lot of money but signing a new contract with a bigger release clause would show a lack of ambition to me. If he ups his release clause to 80-90m plus increases his wages further (I assume the 10m euro annually mentioned is after tax so thats like 20m euro before tax, which would be 325k pounds per week) its essentially pricing himself out of a future move unless he goes nuts and genuinely becomes one of the best players in the world, which seems unlikely.

Maybe he feels this is about the tops he can get to and is ‘comfortable’ there.

Yeah I agree. Would be a strange move on Williams’ part to do this now, so early in the transfer window.

By all means, get a pay rise at the end of (or after) the transfer window, but not now when it is still open for another three months.

Make noise about renewing your contract in an attempt to get an interested club to make a move perhaps?

He’s mid. Mid-co Williams.

Agree. Rather we waste our energy trying to convince Rodrygo to ditch Madrid’s bench and come here.

All the good winners for taken while we bought tall people and defenders

Let’s hope this happens. Do not want.

Still think he’ll end up at Barcelona.

Stop faffing around and tell us where you think hes gonna end up would you.

Or of course, the club getting to up his release clause is a condition for a higher salary in a new contract rather than the player upping the clause.:man_shrugging:
