There were definitely periods he was the best player in the world not named Messi or Ronaldo, so of course.
I think he was maybe even the best one at some point but just couldn’t string a full season withouth an injury (most ofen at some crucial stages) so he could have that Ballon d’Or next to his name.
At his peak he was definitely a better player than Rooney ever was.

One year, Neymar pretty much carried Barca. He was unreal for Brazil. Not having anything but Neymar being generational.

Agree with the view on his move to PSG also.
Couldn’t put a number on it but I consider him the third best player of the last 15 years and that qualifies him in my eyes

Neymar made a poor move to PSG and let his lack of ambition spoil what could have been but he gave 10 solid years of magical football between 2009 and 2019.
He broke down sooner than most footballers but he was also peaked sooner than most footballers. He was 17 when he broke through and was playing for Barcelona at 21.
Between 2014 and 2016, If Messi & Ronaldo were not in equation, Neymar would have won the Ballon Dor.
His injury killed whatever chance Brazil had in WC 2014
Sometimes you have to put aside achievement and just enjoy players for their sheer quality.
All of us enjoyed watching Cazorla play yet achievement wise and number wise, many won’t consider him a great player.
