Poor choice in hindsight.
He must have thought that he would come out of Messi’s shadow to be someone on his own but ended up being a forgotten figure.
Born in an era where his talents weren’t truly appreciated. If he was a 90s footballer, I think the impression of him would be more positive. Football was less accessible and so it was easier to filter out the bad bits. You’d be left with the skills and less of the antics.
Plus, the expectation for Neymar was always to be the next Messi/Ronaldo. A feat only 1 or 2 could live up to.
I still love the player he became. The endless highlights. The skills, the tricks. Me trying to replicate them whenever I step onto the five-aside pitch.

If he would have won the Champions League against Bayern it would have enhanced his legacy but he’s still certified.
And I can respect leaving Barcelona to go it alone.

Incredible footballer. For about 18 months at Barca he was definitely on a par with C. Ron and Messi. The PSG move was terrible for him.
