Next manager

Ahhhh a 12 man shortlist like last time. It’d be nice if like a big club we went for the best man available like Allegri. But now we have a 12 man short list, which probably includes 6 ex players who’ve no managerial pedigree.

Also this sounds like us: Ornstein: “There’s a feeling from a few people I’ve spoke to that [#AFC] don’t want to spend heavily on this appointment.”

Unfortunately it looks like Raul has absolutely no clue what he’s doing. Having 12 candidates is kind of crazy. But waiting the extra few months to fire Emery and THEN having a list of 12 candidates and also leaking to the press that they want to move quickly to appoint a replacement but not spend too much money is just a sign that Raul and co. aren’t as savvy as I had initially hoped.

Exactly.
Our board are clueless.
Every decision is made way too late and the decisions we do make are reactive rather than proactive.
When we do eventually act, it’s always the cheap and flimsy option.

We act like a club pretending to be big hitters but in reality we are cheapskates hoping to get lucky, rather than working and investing, which is what real big clubs do.

When you see spurs being more decisive and ambitious than us, you know how far down we’ve gone.

Nothing to say it’s actually true though. In fact it’s nothing but a list of contradictions in reality that people are jumping over.

But if you were a chief executive whose coach had just flubbed two chances to get into the UCL and you weren’t sure if the squad needed to be blown up or just tweaked doesn’t it make more sense to fire the coach and launch a comprehensive search over the summer? Instead Raul doubled down on Emery and waited so long that the club are stuck between a few types of candidates while meaningful games are being played.

Well not necessarily because we don’t know who there looking at.
We might even try to recruit somebody in a current job.
No guarantees of anything better by waiting.
If we can reach a promise of the very best now okay.
Fuck putting dossiers together and monthly meetings though.
This is the real world and it’s cut throat. Need to be a bastard club now and show some intent.

Snubbed :santi:

Is ok fam, what could a bad manager appointment cause? It’s not like we’re on a relegation form…oh wait.

So spend £72 million on a winger and then cheap out on the guy that can get the best out of him and the team. Have I got that right? Genius

Even if it’s Ornstein they can’t be that stupid and negligent, surely? If so we’ve made a sideways move in terms of ineptitude from the club being Wenger’s fiefdom to this new look executive team of bellends

It’s fine to not spend that much.

I guess that means not going for managers currently in jobs.

Poch can want United, but if they are sticking with Ole, not much he can do.

Hope we can convince him to come to us in meantime.

Couldn’t that mean salary also?

And even if it does mean prizing others away we should be getting the best man for the job period.

Tbf we are.

Rumours are we have offered Poch the job. Not much more you can do if he refuses.

Just wait till summer.

I have a feeling Freddie may show enough to get the job.

I’d say with the weaknesses in the squad and the point differential be almost impossible for him to show enough to get the job.

I read that United are happy with OGS and won’t sack him despite Poch being free. Usually wouldn’t believe that kind of thing but honestly it feels like United are sticking with Ole at least until the end of the season.

Brother, we just have to let it play out. There’s not been much time

I have a good feeling. The fans are all backing him.

Also I was thinking this whole Poch wants United job, might be a ploy by Poch and his PR team to force our hand and hire him.

This was reading, that the board are actually happy with Ole as they believe he’s clearing out the deadwood and rebuilding. They believe he needs a couple of transfer windows etc… And honestly it seems the majority of ex utd players are all behind him. So I don’t think they will get rid of Ole.

Which means we might have a chance at Poch or its more likely he will end up in Spain or Munich.

But even though Pochettino remains contracted to Tottenham – having been effectively placed on gardening leave instead of being sacked by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy – he is determined to secure a swift return to management with a club that meets his vision.

It will however require an interested suitor to negotiate a deal with Levy to spring the former defender from his £8.5m-a-year contract, which still has more than three years to run, if he is to take a new job before the end of the season.

Set to miss out on our #1 target, according to John Cross…

If we appoint another Spanish manager who managed Valencia ffs.

I’d rather keep Freddie if this is true
