Sure. But that is period when Milan (and Inter) had no money. When he got Robinho, Zlatan and van Bommel they won the League. Emanuelson and Contant were squad players more than anything else tbh.
Tuchel is a difficult one. I’ve always said with Emery that I don’t count his years at PSG because everyone can win with that club. Only fair to do the same for Tuchel.
One thing I will say is that he made a lot of ‘weird’ starting elevens, but how much of that was driven by them buying Mbappe and Neymar, and not being able to balance the squad out?
At Dortmund he was able to rejuvenate the players (what he was hired for) and in the 16/17 season needed to deal with a rebuild (lost Mkhitaryan, Hummels and Gundogan). Obviously that season was going to be difficult, even if they bought their fair share of players. The fact though that he had so much arguments with management that he was let go, is never a good sign I think.
To be very honest I simply don’t know what to think of him as next manager. It would make sense for him to join since well-run clubs are probably not going to burn their fingers on him and his next job will be a step down. But if we would hire him I wonder/hope we’d have explored other options first.
He’d use Emanuelson like James Milner. Actually…
Maybe a workhorse-lover is what we need in this era ![]()
Would be sweet for Tuchel to come in and then absolutely destroy the board and throw whoever is responsible for this mess under the bus. Plus he will be miles better in the results department.
Exactly, he’s shown he isn’t afraid to make demands of senior management and question moves publicly. That’s why he’ll never get close to the Arsenal job, the board needs an agreeable figure who won’t shine a light of incompetence
Is Arteta really such an agreeable figure? For example every single assistent coach is hired because of connections with him. Hence he holds power. Where does this notion comes from that he is so agreeable / a walkover?
So far he’s provided good cover for the board and an absentee owner, they’ve given him the pretty comprehensive control of first team matters in return.
We’ll see after the winter window but I don’t think Arteta would ever chew out Edu out publicly over an inability to shift players/obtain players.
Exactly. If Tuchel gets the same power/control it’s likely he will not make headlines, isn’t it? At Dortmund Watzke/Mislintat were actively doing things without his involvement.
I just don’t think a guy like Edu survives under a competent manager, I guess Arteta’s influence doesn’t extend there or he’s happy with his work.
We’ll see more after the Winter window
Edu is Arteta’s patsy.
Make no mistake about it. Arteta is the main man, and in full control.
I know this because the club wouldn’t stfu about it over the summer, didn’t hesitate bro let us know.
Now we know where the problem lies.
Edit: found a better source.
Let’s see. I don’t trust Pep loving nerds any more though.
Yeah we should take Tuchel now.
Don’t trust Arteta to spend well in January.
This source is quoting the same source that has been posted earlier, Bild
? It’s rubbish anyway, 1+1=2 lazy rumour.
Gerardo Seoane. Bonus points for looking like a Bond villain.

Plays super attacking football and uses tactics very similar to Nagelsmann. He’s gonna get snatched up by a lower German side most likely. However seeing as we won’t have many options when this job becomes available we should be looking at someone with his profile. I mean he’s relatively inexperienced but he’s about to win the Swiss league 3 years running with BSC Young Boys. From everything I read about him he’s an intelligent manager, well respected and liked by players, who is very good at adapting and trying new things. I dunno seems the polar opposite of what we have now, which is a good thing.
Could we afford him?
Not joking. We’re paying off Unai’s contract, his staff plus we’d do the same with Arteta and his staff. Whoever we bring in will also want their staff.
Emery’s contract was supposed to end this season. But surely we gave him money with or any payments ended with him finding a new job?
I highly doubt the Young Boys manager is on the Arsenal radar.
We have a choice here , we either stick with teflon’teta or go all guns blazing for Allegri or Rodgers . Allegri would be my choice but Rodgers has PL experience and let’s face facts , are Leicester a better footballing club that The Arsenal… ?
Super , super Max , super , super Max Allegri
The Champions league winning chant is there in place !
I just couldn’t see Allegri biding his time out of football for 2 years to then return and accept the Arsenal job in our current climate.
I don’t think any top manager is interested in Arsenal here.
There’s nothing professional around the club too entice a big name at the moment.
This hiring of Arteta if not successful was always going to tarnish the club.
